The Marketing Manager – 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ Brand Contact Lenses will lead the development and execution of business strategies and marketing plans for 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™. 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ is a new category of contact lenses that accentuates natural beauty and is based on the prove design of the #1 daily disposable brand worldwide. The lens launched in the U.S. region in March 2015, and is expected to drive category growth through the introduction of a new natural beauty benefit that attracts new consumers to the contact lens category.
Responsibilities of the successful incumbent include, but are not limited to, the following:Forecasting – Identifying dollar, volume and share objectives, tracking progress towards those objectives, and quickly communicating potential gaps and identifying gap closersHealth of the Business – Gathering information and evaluating marketplace dynamics to understand brand performance and shape near and long-term brand growth strategiesBudgeting – Managing marketing investment both strategically (how money should be spent) and operationally (opening/closing of POs, development of agency SOWs, management of agency/vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to allocated budget) with overall accountability for the effectiveness of products and services purchased.
Pricing and Packaging – Gaining an understanding of marketplace dynamics to help shape/optimize pricing & packaging configurations to best compete in the marketPositioning, Claims & Innovation – Collaborating with and influencing global marketing partners in the development of brand positioning, and claims and innovation pipelines; owning best-in-class delivery of new innovations to U.S. marketCommunications/Promotion
- Building equity and generating demand for 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ through the development, execution, measurement and optimization of communications plans against consumers, shoppers and professionals in the U.S. market, across existing and emerging channels.
PR/Influencer Communications – Credentialing 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ as a healthy beauty product and a new category of contact lenses through engagement with consumer and professional influencers.
Agency Management – Effectively leading and partnering with agency partners in the development and execution of brand strategies and communications/promotion.
Product Lifecycle Management – Managing the lifecycle of new and existing productsCross-Functional Leadership/Partnering – Coordinating marketing, sales, regulatory, legal, medical, professional affairs, research & development, manufacturing and financial disciplines for the US market.
Brand Stewardship – Unearthing new insights through customer closeness, market research, and thought leadership, and partnering with global franchise and regional counterparts to share successes and challengesOrganizational Contributions/Compliance – Engaging in credo-based decision-making; supporting recruiting efforts, and development of self and others; complying with HCC guidelines and reporting requirements; and adhering to environmental policy and procedures and supporting department environmental objectives.
Additional responsibilities of the Marketing Manager – 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ Brand Contact Lenses include managing the development of new and existing products and programs to grow category entry, market share and sales; leading a team in flawless implementation and measurement of insight-based, integrated, cross-channel marketing programs and evaluating market dynamics and assessing performance of in-market programs to inform short and long-term strategy.
The incumbent will also closely partner with and influence global strategic marketing in the evolution of product positioning, the development of new claims, and other innovative approaches.
Domestic travel up to 25%QualificationsA minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. MBA preferred.
A minimum of 8 years total business experience with a minimum of 3 years’ brand marketing experience is required. Consumer packaged goods marketing and/or experience marketing a beauty product is preferred.
Experience gathering information and evaluating marketplace dynamics to understand brand performance and shape near and long-term brand growth strategies is requiredExperience collaborating with and influencing global marketing partners in the development of brand positioning, and claims and innovation pipelines; owning best-in-class delivery of new innovations to U.S. market is preferred.
