The Director R&D, Tooling and Injection Molding manages the development and implementation of process improvements related to tooling and plastic mold fabrication lab operations, optical tooling and mold insert component fabrication, evaluation and selection of materials, software and designing tools, implementing new programs, reducing variability and characterizing machine and product processes. Daily management and supervision of the R&D Tooling and Injection Molding group resources in tooling development and pilot facility plastics fabrication is core. Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives. Engages in Credo-based decision-making. Other key responsibilities include: Manage daily activities of laboratory areas to include project prioritization, order execution, technical problem solving, execution of program elements and overall subject matter expert regarding optical insert and plastic lens mold fabrication, metrology and integrated systems, laboratory equipment, infrastructure and operations. Provide leadership, supervision and organization to assigned staff and provides resource allocation for cross-functional program support. Identify and assess new equipment, operational software and processes related to the infrastructure of diamond point turning technologies. Act as tooling liaison with other departments across R&D and manufacturing. Prepare data summaries, reports and formal technical documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
QualificationsA minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific/Technical discipline is required, preferably in Engineering; a Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred. A minimum of 10+ years of technical experience in engineering and scientific research as well as manufacturing and involvement in large scale product management is required. Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices of plastic processing and tool design is required.
This position is located in Jacksonville, FL and requires up to 25% travel.
