The role requires the engineer to be capable of analysing and critiquing designs in prototype development stages in order to provide a functional test of efficacy. Other requirements include an understanding of biomechanics, materials, international standards and bioengineering in both industrial and academic fields.Main responsibilities:- Working in the following areas, mechanics/ biomechanics, stress / strain analysis, metrology, data recording and potentially material analysis- Undertake mechanical/numerical analysis and product functional testing- Translate biomechanical scenarios into complex mechanical test procedures- Create technical reports and author peer reviewed publications- Mentor students- Participate in the review process for function of current and new product (including investigative skills to evaluate customer complaints) and anticipate in design FMEA’s and process PFMEA’s- Unsupervised participation in development projects, possibly leading projects with a strong test/research bias (internal and external)- Develop company related systems and procedures including interdepartmental procedures- Create and implement Engineering Change Instructions, standard operating procedures, work instructions.- Undertake technical and departmental projects including the introduction of new test equipment to the company requirements of validation/Management of Change.- Participate in cross functional projects and work in a global team- Understand the requirement of working in worldwide projects across different time zones and with different cultural backgrounds- Understand the testing needs of regulatory bodies across the world- Undertake good laboratory practice in line with A2LA guidelines to ISO 17025 standards- Interact routinely with all levels of company management, surgeons, academics and vendors- Convert ideas into patent memos and filed patents to enhance the company’s intellectual property.- Contribute to departmental development strategy- Foster, develop and co-ordinate external links, relationships, partnerships and strategic alliances with academic institutes, technical specialists and associated industry within HCC/Due Diligence processesQualificationsTo be part of this high performance team you will be degree qualified with mechanical test experience and have familiarity within regulated industry is preferred.Together with:- A mechanical/materials/forensic/electronic or bio-engineering background- Ability to work without supervision- Superior time management, leadership and decision making skills- Being proactive, demonstrating a high level of initiative- Confident and effective communicator at all levels- Strong interpersonal skills- Team working skills and flexibility are essential- Demonstrate superior scientific report writing skillsThis is a great career pathway to amazing opportunities for people with a desire to make a difference to patients all over the world.
