The Cardiovascular & Specialty Solutions (CSS) Group, part of the Medical Devices sector within Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Staff Scientist, Microbiologist aligned to Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), located in Irvine, CA .

Description In this role, the Staff Scientist will lead, plan and execute research projects for assessment and development of new technologies for cleaning and disinfection or sterilization of medical instruments. Prepare and execute protocols/studies to support product development from initial feasibility to final product verification / validation, while applying microbiology and engineering principles. Ensure quality of projects including design, execution, data summary and interpretation, and report preparation /review adherent to GDP and applicable regulations. May prepare and review written information to provide current product support. Provide guidance and work direction to lower level research scientists. Maintain awareness of the advances and needs in sterilization / disinfection, microbiology and biocompatibility. Seek out new ideas and applications through journals, patents, scientific reviews, and technical meetings.

Desired profile

Qualifications
·  Minimum of a Master's Degree is required in Microbiology, Microbiology Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of two years of related experience.
·  Ph.D in Microbiology, Microbiology Engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
·  Professional experience in microbial disinfection or sterilization technologies is preferred.
·  Must possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrate the ability to effectively function in a cross-functional team environment.
·  Ability to provide leadership and direction to assign staff on performing duties is required.
·  Strong understanding of compliance with applicable laboratory and safety procedures is preferred.
·  A strong working knowledge of QSR, FDA / ISO guidelines is preferred.
·  Strong Publication records such as patents are highly preferred.
·  This position is located in Irvine, CA and will require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel.
