Postdoctoral Scientist – Tuberculosis research

In our Infectious Disease and Vaccine (ID&V) research unit we currently have an open position for a 3-year postdoctoral position

Function

We are looking for a biologist who will be responsible for in vitro discovery and profiling of new drugs against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria. You will be involved in discovery and validation of key mycobacterial targets in order to find new molecules that accelerate the killing of mycobacteria and potentially shorten the time of treatment. You will play a key role in testing the efficacy of pre-clinical drug candidates. You will be working in multidisciplinary drug discovery teams involving medicinal chemists, biologists and groups involved in pre-clinical development and external partners.

Profile

·  MD/PhD or PhD in Medical Sciences, Bioengineering, Biology or related field, with a good track record of publications from his/her PhD.
·  Solid scientific understanding of in vitro Microbiology, Molecular Biology and generation of mutants, preferably related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria.
·  Hands-on experience in assay development and validation.
·  Engaged scientist, enjoying a balanced combination of hands-on laboratory work and data analysis. Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping skills.
·  Flexible to work in different projects in a changing environment.
·  Communicative personality, with strong capabilities to collaborate with internal stakeholders of all functions and a diversity of external parties.
·  Excellent planning, executing, reporting and team working skills. Able to effectively report and present scientific data and concepts according to international standards of the scientific community.
· 
Experience with in vivo models and macrophages is a plus.
