LifeScan Scotland was created in 2001 when Johnson & Johnson acquired the UK assets of Inverness Medical Ltd, a medical device company established in Inverness in 1995 to design and manufacture glucose test strips, and design electronic meters for the global diabetes market.
With a focus on future development, LifeScan is committed to “creating a world without limits for people with diabetes.” Around 1,000 people are employed at the Inverness site, which is regarded as Johnson & Johnson's centre of excellence for diabetes and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG).
The team at LifeScan Scotland designs all the products in the OneTouch® Brand of blood glucose monitoring systems (meters, test strips, control solutions, lancing devices and diabetes management software). The OneTouch® brand has two product families – Ultra® products, made from carbon technology, and Verio® products, made form precious metals technology. LifeScan Scotland is the primary OneTouch® test strip manufacturer for the global market.
We have a great opportunity for a 4 permanent Operations Technicians to join the UVS team in LifeScan, Inverness. These roles will be working full continental shifts across all the teams.
The main duties of the role are to assist in the manufacturing of blood glucose test strips in areas of material storage, preparation, inspection and handling, printing, finishing, strip testing and packaging/distribution.
You will be responsible for the following:
• Basic Technical Aptitude and Manual Dexterity
• Demonstrated Ability to accurately absorb technical instructions and rapidly demonstrate technical competence. Undergo role related training through both formal and informal methods. Maintaining training records through IT system.
• Compliance/GMP – Adherence to departmental and company GMP guidelines and operating procedures
• Initiating Action/Business Results – Demonstrate personal responsibility as required by Stop-Call-Wait practices to maintain process EHS, Quality, Yield and Throughput
• Adaptability, flexibility and Innovation – Maintain and learn new competencies to enable employment in new work areas, practices and processes
• Communication – Ability to convey accurate information both in written and verbal formats
• Team working/Networking – Will be expected to work as an active member of groups participating in activities that lead to the success of the process and the organization
• Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing -Demonstrates expected minimum competence , understands and uses associated terminology appropriately.
• Timekeeping & Attendance – All employees shall abide by the organizations GHRT policies
• Working safely – Employees shall abide by area and process Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Chemical Data sheets and by the sites and organizations EHS policies
