The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) holds primary responsibility for the execution of the regional Medical Affairs Plan. They are the point of contact for key opinion leaders (KOLs) in a given territory and help answer their medical, scientific and research needs within specific guidelines.

• Disseminate, review and present clinical and scientific data in a balanced, unbiased manner, to key opinion leaders and other HCP's, in group and one-on-one settings.
• Develop scientific communication materials (slide presentations) for dissemination to HCPs through contacts and meetings and provide congress support.
• Ensure a regional scientific leadership strategy via credible and informed scientific dialogue with KOLs.
• Accountable for relationships with top KOLs their region (development and sustainability through clear engagement plans).
• Lead/participate in medical and scientific forums (e.g. ad boards and CMEs) where KOLs are involved.
• Support Phase IIIB/IV local and global clinical development program.
• Critical contributor to site identification, patient enrollment, and follow-up visits. Assist in the interpretation of results, post-hoc analyses, and research collaboration with investigators.
• Support investigator initiated studies (IISs) by fielding and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with Janssen's research needs and engaging investigators to ensure the successful execution and satisfactory completion of studies.
• Analyze data – new and post hoc – to develop insights and contribute to publications as appropriate.
• Provide expert-level clinical consultation and support to business partners (e.g. scientific briefing of Faculty for CME events).
• Keep abreast of scientific literature/clinical data, relating to the hematology therapeutic area and translate data into applicable knowledge and communication platform.

Desired profile

• Graduate degree in a Health Sciences field (Master's Degree at a minimum); a Pharm.D., Ph.D. or M.D. is an asset.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience as an MSL in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry; OR a strong scientific background in hematology.
• Knowledge of hematology; knowledge of current as well as future trends relating to the treatment of hematological malignancies is highly desirable.
• Significant experience with clinical/scientific programs such as Phase IV clinical studies, Investigator-initiated studies, Registries, etc. is an asset.
• Ability to manage projects from start to finish including participation with publications.
• Excellent working knowledge of epidemiology, scientific methodology and biostatistics.
• Strong knowledge of GCP, Rx&D code and Healthcare Compliance policies and procedures. Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOP's.
• Ability to effectively simplify and communicate complex material to a diverse array of audiences.
• Ability to travel up to 40% in the assigned territory as this is a customer facing position (primarily British Columbia with occasional travel to Alberta and Saskatchewan). Ability to travel internationally (US, EU) as needed.
• A valid Canadian driver's license is required as an incumbent in this role will receive a company car.
