The Manager, Fleet Safety (SAFE Fleet) is the functional expert in fleet safety standards and practices leading to the prevention and reduction of injuries and collisions associated with driving company vehicles across the Canadian companies. The role will include:
Leading a network of five SAFE Fleet teams, representing three J&J sectors (Consumer, Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical) and over 1,000 drivers, to create and sustain a culture of safety for all fleet drivers and their families; responsibility for SAFE Fleet Administrator role; independently responsible for managing a variety of suppliers. Provide general learning and best practices for all employees on the benefits of safe driving. Communicate effectively across all levels to increase awareness of safe driving and reduce risks. The Manager, Fleet Safety will be a key member of the North America SAFE Fleet Leadership Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Motivate and influence J&J Canadian Company SAFE Fleet Champions, Business Leaders and HR to achieve SAFE Fleet Business Plan targets, implement effective solutions and reduce collisions based on annually set corporate goals.
· Collaborate with company leaders, champions and key business partners (e.g., Fleet Management) to create and deploy strategies and themes that enhance and sustain a fleet safety culture;
· Set annual goals in coordination with SAFE Fleet Champions.
· Analyze data, trends, & leading indicators and communicate outcomes to operating company business leaders, SAFE Fleet teams.
· Support franchise-based fleet safety teams to drive a harmonized approach to implementation of fleet safety policies and ensure compliance with global fleet safety standards;
· Provide leadership, training, and guidance to fleet safety leaders and teams;
· Conduct annual self-assessments and consult with teams to drive improvement of critical fleet safety elements.
· Lead teams through corporate assessment of teams every three years.
· Manage contracts with key suppliers; manage vendors/suppliers; monitor customer satisfaction with services; train managers and drivers on effective use of supplier tools to increase focus on safety behaviours, review and update existing manager tools as required, manage effective behind-the-wheel training programs to maximize driver value and safety
· Share best practices with other organizations to benchmark J&J practices with external marketplace
· Create awareness of SAFE Fleet among all Canadian drivers through established processes and communication mediums based on the different affiliates needs
· Report and communicate SAFE Fleet results regularly to key stakeholders
· Exception base management through HR and Business leads on driver issues
· Management of Part Time SAFE Fleet Administrator
· Actively participate in Global requirements as required
· Actively participate on North America SAFE Fleet Leadership Team
· Assist Fleet Safety Manager, Americas, with conducting team assessments, reporting and projects, as required
· Identify and implement new process improvements and opportunities to increase awareness of safety culture and leverage costs and efficiencies across the Canadian companies.
· Participate in cross affiliate wellness teams
Desired profile
· University degree (minimum of BA / BS) is required. Major in technology/scientific field, marketing or business administration preference.
· Minimum of 3+ years of relevant J&J experience is required.
· Fleet safety experience desirable.
· Strong English communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
· Proficiency in French (both written and verbal) is desirable.
· Good working knowledge in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
· Current and valid Motor Vehicle Record required that meets all SAFE Fleet standards
· Up to 50% travel requirement.
