The main responsibilities of the Manager, Federal Affairs will be:
• To develop, implement and direct federal advocacy activities to further awareness of, and build a strong reputation for, Johnson and Johnson to key federal policymakers and advocacy stakeholders.
• Devise and execute on strategic initiatives that help to build the corporation's brand reputation and public image among targeted audiences in Washington, including Congress, the Executive Branch, trade associations and coalitions, and advocacy alliance partners.
• Support all three sectors – pharmaceutical, consumer, and medical device – and the entire enterprise to advance the reputation of Johnson and Johnson with the Federal audience.
• Work internally and externally on matters relating to the advancement of Johnson and Johnson's reputational advocacy efforts and represent the corporation to federal and national platforms.
• Work on corporate priority assignments within US Government Affairs as determined by managers, such as managing relationships with identified stakeholders ie: congressional caucuses, patient, physician and other professional societies and stakeholder organizations.
• Advocate with internal J&J colleagues including US Government Affairs, International, Health Policy Group, J&J Corporate Communications, Law, J&J operating company and Corporate personnel and senior management and External customers including: Members of the US Congress, Administration, State Officials, Trade Associations, Advocacy Partners, Corporate Equity Partners and customers of J&J.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• And educational focus from accredited four-year institution in health policy, political science or communications is highly preferred.
• A Master's Degree, MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• At least five (5) years of experience in Government Affairs Policy or Government Affairs Advocacy is required.
• At least one (1) year of experience working within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
• A Solid understanding of the federal government policy making and legislative process is required.
• The ability to effectively communicate with various audiences.
• Self-starter with exceptional initiative and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision is required
• Excellent oral and written skills and the ability to operate with minimal supervision are required.
• Possibility for travel up to 10% both domestic and internationally will be required.
