Job description
Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is seeking a Summer Intern to be based Pennsylvania (Spring House). The duration of this Summer Intern is June through August 2016.

Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.
The summer internship program will allow the potential candidates to blend real work experience with an extensive overview of the Pharmaceutical Industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance to the interns to gain professional hands-on experience.
This intern will be working with SPARCL (Spatial Proximity Analyte Reagent Capture Luminescence). SPARCL is a homogeneous, plate based, immunoassay technology. In this assay an antibody labeled with a chemiluminescent substrate and an antibody labeled with HRP (horse radish peroxidase) are brought into close proximity by binding to a common analyte in solution. A chemiluminescent flash is generated by the addition of trigger solution containing hydrogen peroxide. This intern research project will involve the development of clinical pharmacokinetic (PK) assays on the SPARCL platform. A generic SPARCL method will be developed to determine anti-idiotypic monoclonal antibody titers from tissue culture supernatants. Finally, SPARCL methods will be developed to optimize pairings of anti-idiotytpic antibodies on a Hamilton automated liquid handler.
