Janssen, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting a Summer 2018 Immunology Medical Affairs Intern to work in the Gastroenterology Therapeutic Area. Janssen is the name given to Johnson & Johnson's global pharmaceutical companies that market both conventional and biologic monoclonal antibody drugs. The Immunology Medical Affairs organization carries out scientific analyses to generate peer-reviewed journal publications and performs post-approval (Phase 3b/4) interventional and observational studies to generate important safety and efficacy data with approved Janssen products (e.g. Remicade [infliximab], Simponi [golimumab], and Stelara [ustekinumab]).
This full-time paid summer internship position is offered by the Gastroenterology group within the Immunology US Medical Affairs division of Janssen Biotechnology and is based in Horsham, Pennsylvania (in the suburbs of Philadelphia). The Gastroenterology Medical Affairs group supports Janssen products approved for use in patients with adult and pediatric Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (also called Inflammatory Bowel Disease). The Internship Program is focused on providing college and graduate students with practical scientific and clinical experience in areas including data review, interpretation and presentation as well as study operations.
The Gastroenterology Medical Affairs Intern will:
· Work collaboratively with medical affairs physicians and scientists supporting ongoing projects, including multiple Phase 3b/4 clinical trials
· Preparation for clinical study updates and new efficacy and safety analyses
· Participate in data analysis for scientific congress abstract generation
· Assist with review of efficacy and safety data (such as adverse event safety reports) and enrollment stimulation efforts
· Assist in generating medical and other data clarification queries to clinical trial sites, based on study database reviews
· Participate in ongoing project team meetings
· Be exposed to and support various other functions within the larger Medical Affairs group, including Marketing, Real World Evidence and Medical Communication
Desired profile
Qualifications
· Qualified candidates must be enrolled in a bachelors, masters or doctoral degree programs.
· Available to work for at least 8 weeks between May and September 2018.
· Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
· Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
· Candidates ideally proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills.
· A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is preferred.
· Access to transportation (i.e. car) required to commute between office locations
