The Formulations Technician :
· Maintains equipment operation, monitors processes/conditions and records each step of the process
· Troubleshoots and resolves Formulations system issues during shift to support the production of contact lenses
· Prepares, reviews and maintains Formulation documentation for adherence to GMP/ISO/PSM/EH&S/RCRA requirements
· Performs routine maintenance on equipment as directed by higher level technicians
· Performs preventative maintenance on all related equipment
· Performs preparation of saline solutions, Methyl Cellulose (MEC) solutions, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solution and Reactive Monomer Mix to support the production of contact lenses
· Performs sanitization and regeneration of all associated equipment as necessary to meet quality specifications and to conform to established standards
· Maintains current knowledge and adherence to provisions of FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications
· Receives and ships IPA/PG and maintains hazardous waste rooms
· Assists on projects as directed by higher level technicians.
· Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports departmental environmental objectives
Desired profile
Qualifications :
· High School degree or equivalent is required ; Associate's degree is preferred
· Minimum of 2 years of related experience is required
· Minimum of 4 years of experience in a production/manufacturing facility is preferred
· Minimum of 4 years of experience working with chemistry/solutions processing is preferred
· Minimum of 3 years of electro/mechanical troubleshooting experience is preferred
· Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required
· Proven understanding of FDA/ISO/GMP regulations is preferred
· Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks is required
· Microsoft Office proficiency is required including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical and electrical drawings is preferred
· An aptitude for electro-mechanical skills is required
· Ability to work in an empowered work team environment under minimal supervision is required
· Ability and willingness to work the night shift is required ; consists of rotating 12-hour shifts (6pm – 6am; few days on, couple of day off, etc.) inclusive of weekends (not all but some due to rotating shift), holidays and overtime in support of Continuous Operations
· Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including walking, bending, pulling, light lifting (up to 23 lbs.), grasping, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, fingering and climbing 14' ladder
