The Engineering Technician II is responsible for providing direct production line technical and process support. Additional responsibilities include:

·  Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the equipment while adhering to all quality and safety procedures
·  Monitoring equipment and process status for new products and new installations
·  Creating, reviewing, and updating electro/mechanical drawings, operating manuals and procedures, maintenance and calibration procedures, and training manuals as required by the scope of projects that are assigned
·  Investigating alternative methods and procedures to reduce variability and improve equipment reliability
·  Assisting in the design of experiments, under operational and developmental conditions, to increase yields and improve machine reliability, repeatability and standardization
·  Maintaining current knowledge and adhering to provisions of FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications
·  Preparing and maintaining accurate documentation for adherence to GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations
·  Practicing vigilance for shop safety, environmental safety, product quality, ergonomics and hazardous energy control
·  Providing technical training and certification for Process Technicians on the operation and troubleshooting of the production machinery and process
·  Monitoring and adjusting the process to improve the throughput
·  Performing preventative maintenance
·  Performing routine cleaning and clearing of equipment jams and performing non-routine maintenance, including clearing of jams
·  Training and developing others in process improvements and line management, while reducing process variability and addressing equipment reliability issues
·  Utilizing Process Excellence tools
·  Demonstrating behaviors consistent with J&J Standards of Leadership and that make a positive impact on team/shift

Desired profile

Qualifications

·  High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associates degree or equivalent is highly preferred
·  A minimum of 2 years of college, trade, or military training in a technical discipline OR equivalent industrial experience emphasizing electro-mechanical, PLC, and pneumatics is highly preferred
·  A minimum of 3 years of relevant technical/vocational industry experience is required (electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics/fluid flow, PLC's, etc.)
·  Maintenance or engineering experience within a high-volume production line environment is preferred
·  Working knowledge and/or troubleshooting skills in the following areas are highly preferred: Electro-mechanical troubleshooting/repair, PLC systems, electro/mechanical devices, robotic/servo systems, safety devices, equipment installation, debug and qualification, control circuitry development, equipment prototyping, production start-up, equipment process development and mechanical devices, controller, mechanical parts design, tooling experience, materials/metal working, mechanical power transmission, and process improvement
·  Competent communication skills, both written and verbal are required;
·  Must successfully pass a written skills assessment test
·  Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks required
·  Required Physical demands of the position include stooping, walking, pulling, light lifting (up to 25 lbs.), grasping, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, fingering and crawling
·  Ability to work rotating 12- hour night shift, including weekends, and overtime as needed on a regular basis is required (6pm – 6am, with a few days on, few days off, will work some but not all weekends)
