Caring for the world, one person at a time has inspired and united the people of Johnson & Johnson for over 130 years. We embrace research and science -- bringing innovative ideas, products and services to advance the health and well-being of people.

With $76.5 billion in 2017 sales, Johnson & Johnson is the world's most comprehensive and broadly-based manufacturer of health care products, as well as a provider of related services, for the consumer, pharmaceutical, and medical devices markets. There are more than 250 Johnson & Johnson operating companies employing over 125,000 people and with products touching the lives of over a billion people every day, throughout the world. If you have the talent and desire to touch the world, Johnson & Johnson has the career opportunities to help make it happen.

Thriving on a diverse company culture, celebrating the uniqueness of our employees and committed to inclusion. Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

Johnson & Johnson is a broadly diversified healthcare company that operates in three primary sectors: pharmaceuticals, consumer packaged goods, and medical devices (MD). The MD sector encompasses multiple diverse businesses that span orthopedics, diabetes care, vision care, cardiovascular care, minimally invasive surgery, diagnostics and more. Sales for the MD sector in 2016 were over $25B. Of the $25B, nearly $3B came from the Vision Care business, which consisted of only the contact lens business in 2016. In 2017, the Vision Care business has doubled in size as it completed three acquisitions:
·  J & J Surgical Vision (previously Abbott Medical Optics), adding ophthalmic products in three areas of patient care: cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery (LASIK), and consumer eye health.
·  TearScience, Inc., a medical device manufacturer dedicated to evaluating meibomian glands and treating Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, the leading cause of Dry Eye Disease.
·  Sightbox, Inc., an online, membership-based subscription service for contact lens wearers in the United States. Sightbox helps patients connect with eye care professionals and addresses a growing consumer preference for more convenient access to eye health services and products.
Under the leadership of Product Management organization, we are in the process of expanding the capability to assess and analyze the end-to-end (E2E) impacts and tradeoffs of various strategic imperatives across our Supply Chain in close collaboration with the R&D and Commercial divisions, all located at the Jacksonville, FL campus. The E2E analysis includes a Total Delivered Cost model, as well as integration of the Commercial and Supply Chain Data Engines, to provide linkage between customer perceived value and the contributions of the Supply Chain. This set of capabilities, along with a predictive analytics model that will tie operational metrics to supply chain costs, will help the organization optimize the overall performance and profitability of the supply chain, including but not limited to processes within the contact lens manufacturing network.
The focus of this internship will be based on the above work to further develop the models, create scenarios, recommend strategic supply chain initiatives and predict future supply chain performance to maintain our competitive advantage. This work will include understanding, evaluating, and developing options for the optimal performance of the end-to-end supply chain. This work should consider cost, capacity, capability and growth requirements over the Strategic Plan horizon (5-7 years). This analysis may require developing proposals for new manufacturing processes and/or platforms for the highly-automated contact lens manufacturing facilities.
Depending on engineering concentration and individual interest, the intern will have the opportunity to develop and implement projects related to improving the end-to-end supply chain. For example, mechanical engineering students may suggest improvements to the performance on the contact lens manufacturing equipment, which involves technologies such in-line molding of silicone hydrogel, thermal curing, automated testing, and integrated packaging. Electrical engineering and computer science students may expand upon the use of current analytical engines. Civil and environmental students may contribute to facility design modifications to enable future capacity expansions.

Deliverables :
·  Develop visual representations and simulation models of supply chain design options (including E2E costs, material, information & people flows, automation options, suppliers, business structure, transactions, forecast sensitivities…)
·  Evaluate the pros and cons of the various options to meet the cost and supply targets required to create a profitable and sustainable business model
·  Use insights from E2E cost model to shape project focused on improving supply chain
·  Recommend automation changes to best support the supply chain design at launch and over time
·  Recommend supply chain design and policies/principles to be implemented at launch
·  Recommend future supply chain design iterations as we expand capacity, global reach, and product portfolio
·  Convert Insights to Action – drive a mindset biased towards action
