Developing innovative therapeutics to treat diseases like Alzheimer's disease, various types of cancers and infectious diseases like Hepatitis B, influenza is our passion. In this endeavor, we are seeking to recruit new talent for the comprehensive analyses of high-dimensional datasets using state-of-the-art data science methods applied to drug discovery programs. The position will be opened on the Beerse campus, which is the flagship R&D center for small molecules within Janssen, investing over 1 billion euros each year in R&D.
For this organization we are looking for 2 High Content Imaging (HCI) data analysis Scientists in Beerse (Belgium) or Springhouse (US).
Primary responsibilities
· Collaborate closely with biologists and chemists across different therapeutic areas to support drug discovery projects from target identification to preclinical development
· Keep up to date with scientific literature on data analysis for high content imaging and other information rich technologies
· Develop new methodologies and tools to exploit high content imaging data to enhance drug discovery mode of action studies and target identification
· Collaborate with the IT department to setup a software platform for high content analysis

Qualifications
Skills and experience
Required experience
· PhD in a quantitative science (computer science, (bio) statistics, machine learning)
· Analysis of high dimensional / multivariate (omics) data such as high content imaging data, flow cytometry, single cell data
· Minimum of 1 year applied experience in pharma / biomedical sciences
· Basic knowledge in cell biology and biochemistry
Plus
· Analysis of high content imaging data
· Experience with more complex models (3D / organoids, mixed cell cultures / primary cell cultures)
· Background in cell biology / medicinal chemistry / drug discovery / (bio)statistics
· Experience working in a screening and/or profiling environment such as high throughput screening or genomic screening
· Publication record and/or contribution to software tools for biological data analysis
· Experience in (lab) experimental design and assay development
· Experience in any of these techniques
· Thorough knowledge of a relevant programming language such as R, Python, matlab, KNIME
· Experience with technologies used for the analysis of large datasets in a HPC environment, such as cloud or cluster computing
· machine learning, including techniques such as deep learning (for example using Tensorflow)
· tools for image analysis such as CellProfiler, Columbus, Acapella, ImageJ, Fiji
· Experience with Linux, git, Jupyter notebooks

· Good communication to facilitate understanding between biologists and data analysts
· Goal oriented to ensure that the biologist's question gets answered
