The Assistant Scientist will provide support to the growth and strategic business objectives of McNeil Consumer Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson, with a focus on equipment calibrations to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the site calibration program. You will perform a variety of assigned calibrations%5Croutine tasks, lead%5Cexecute improvement initiatives and train site end users in accordance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws/regulations, the Companies' policies, and established procedures and guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete all required training on time.
• Adhere to strict compliance with procedures applicable to role and take ownership for procedural review and updates.
• Equipment Calibration:
• Execute and complete all assigned calibrations daily, in accordance with internal team standards, GMP's, safety requirements and applicable procedures.
o Review calibration records for accuracy, strict adherence to applicable procedures and closure of all associated investigations prior to equipment release.
o Actively participate in team and department%5Cproject meetings, and daily communication with team members and stakeholders to escalate issues, manage requests and provide technical expertise.
o Independently generate system reports (Non-Conformances, Near Miss/Accident Reports, Change Controls) as required by job function.
o Perform monthly review of all assigned PM/Calibration logs to ensure they are complete, accurate and that any issues / gaps are highlighted immediately to the Calibration Supervisor.
o In a timely and prompt manner, identifying, reporting, and seeking correction for deviations noted in the workplace. Assume ownership/leadership of deviations and corrective/preventative actions.
o Assist in managing the disposal of chemicals in accordance with current EH&S requirements and internal practices.
o Maintain and create CMMS (i.e Maximo) records.
o Monitors and supports the maintenance of the Apogee/InfoCenter incubator monitoring system.
• Process%5CCost Improvements:
o Initiate and coordinate new equipment capital requests/purchases and performs IQ/OQ/PQ for new or equipment upgrades. Provide assistance in business case and technical feasibility development.
o Exercise individual initiative and effort to continually evaluate equipment performance, increase self-proficiency through individual study effort, and review of available technical data.
o Perform regular assessment and lead%5Cassist in implementation of innovative approaches to continuously improve processes, ensure maximal equipment uptime and reduce overall calibration costs.
o Identify technical risks of failure%5Cdamage within area of responsibility (i.e. Laboratory, Facility or Shop Floor) and escalate as appropriate.
o Identify and assists with opportunities for cross-functional team and end user training.
• External Vendors%5CContractors:
o Ensure sourcing of calibration supplies, test equipment, scheduling and coordination%5Cshipping with external vendors are completed in a timely manner.
o Coordinate service purchase order creation activities with internal partners.
o Responsible for on-site contractor safety training and adherence to safe practices.
o Work with vendors to ensure strict adherence to provided quotes and escalate immediately any invoice reconciliation issues to Calibration Supervisor.

Qualifications :
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of B.Sc., College diploma, or high school graduate plus minimum 1-2 years' relevant additional experience is required
• Experience working within pharmaceutical or related industry. Certification in Agilent%5CWaters equipment maintenance would be a strong asset.
• Experience with Equipment and Software Qualification, technical writing and use of formal troubleshooting tools is required.
• Able to clearly communicate technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Strong oral and written communication; with a strong aptitude for problem solving analytical%5Cmanufacturing equipment.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Processes and documentation is required.
• Computer skills and proficiency (ability to learn and use many different software packages). Experience with resource planning systems (i.e. Maximo, SAP PM) and building automation software (i..e Siemens Apogee) would be an asset.
