As a Co-op in the RA department, specifically to provide technical support for joint product registration in China, you will have the opportunity to work with R&D team to learn how these novel medical devices have been designed and developed using the new material and/or processing technologies. You will observe world class research labs, operations and quality control in DePuy's manufacturing facility as well as product related anatomy, pathologies, and surgical procedures. Working with RA teams both in the US and China, you will also learn the different regulations required by the US FDA and Chinese FDA for medical device registration process and gain knowledge of industry testing standards and methodologies to evaluate material and functional properties of these products. You will review engineering drawings, material specifications and product design testing reports to ensure they meet the regulatory requirement. Your work will contribute to our product license approval and renewal successfully with CFDA.

Desired profile

Candidates must be enrolled (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university during the Spring (January - May), Summer (May/June - August) or Fall (August - December) 2016 Co-op session. Students must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Science. Materials (Metallurgy) Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering is preferred. Candidates must be bilingual in English and Chinese (mandarin) and be able to read and write in Chinese. Candidate must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Co-op session. Availability to work a minimum of three alternating semester rotations is required (i.e. Spring 2016, Fall 2016, and Summer 2017). Only students that have completed their freshman year or above will be considered. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities are preferred.

This position is located in Warsaw, Indiana. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to this location. A stipend will be offered to students who meet the commuting distance eligibility requirements. Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
