Job description

DePuy Synthes Companies, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for 2016 Operations and Engineering Co-ops to be located in Raynham, MA. These Co-op opportunities are available in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Packaging Engineering and Manufacturing Operations in a high paced Class III implant manufacturing operation.

As a Co-op in Operations/Engineering, you will have the opportunity to use state of the art tools and observe world class operations in DePuy's manufacturing facility. In this hands-on position you will be working under the direction of manufacturing supervision and engineering management to assist in new process development and process optimization activities in the Raynham, MA facility. The individual will be directly involved in projects that lead to improved product quality, cost reduction and improvements to employee safety. This position requires a person who is enthusiastic, willing to learn, and tenacious, as well as professional and articulate. In this position you will:

Assist manufacturing teams with process improvement activities and new process / product introductions.
Assist process qualification activities by drafting qualification documentation, test sample preparation, test execution, data gathering, and data analysis.
Assist in the preparation of manufacturing documentation, standard work (BPS) and specifications
Coordinate the flow of manufacturing qualification orders and test samples throughout all stages of manufacturing
Process mapping and flowcharting existing and proposed processes
Assist supervision/ engineers with various Lean Black Belt / Process Excellence initiatives through the application of statistical tools.

Desired profile

Candidate must be enrolled (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university during the Spring (January - June), Summer (May/June - August) or Fall (July - December) 2015 Co-op session. Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related Engineering field. Candidate must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the 2016 Co-op session. Only students that have completed their freshman year or above will be considered. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities are desired.

This position is located in Raynham, Massachusetts. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to this location. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
