The Vendor Manager handles parts of the (Global Medical Organization) GMO portfolio of strategic vendor relationships (Multi-million annual spend growing at 20% CAGR). Manages requirements, measures performance and prepares recommendations to, and acts on direction from, the Vendor Oversight Board and Head of Vendor and Capacity Management. This position liaises with J&J stakeholders such as Key Function Heads, vendor(s) and other business partners in the delivery of strategic and operational excellence. Provides support in ensuring contracts align with business needs.
The Principal responsibilities include: Vendor relationship management in assigned GMO business areas; Defining the strategic sourcing needs over short, medium and long time frames through partnership with appropriate GMO function heads; Developing strategic vendor partnerships with suitable supplier management and oversight plans; Coordinating cross-functional support for outsourced activities; Developing and implementing tools and processes for process/product knowledge transfer to vendor sites; Partnering with Janssen R&D Procurement and External Alliances to ensure appropriate sourcing, contracting, and supplier management mechanisms are in place and exercised as needed; Facilitating internal and external audits and inspections of vendors.
The Vendor Manager is responsible for: Performance in their assigned GMO business areas; Collaborating cross-functionally and with the Vendor Oversight Board to develop, implement and monitor assigned supplier performance management Balanced Scorecard (e.g. quality, service, cost, regulatory compliance) to provide effective feedback and take proactive corrective action with the vendor(s); Developing and maintaining a ranked, scheduled and sorted portfolio of strategic vendors aligned with business needs and contributes to development of portfolio action plan; Acting on guidance from the Vendor Oversight Board and proposes actions to source, assess, engage and sunset strategic vendors to fulfill the portfolio needs in partnership with Janssen R&D Procurement for category strategy.
Additional responsibilities include; Developing strategy by building full awareness of relevant competitive solutions and market intelligence activities; Providing operational oversight within identified supplier partnership governance infrastructure(s), for delivery of strategic direction, issue remediation and continual improvement processes while liaising with functional line; Appling / assessing selection criteria for business strategy of vendors (short-term, long-term); Possibly assisting in development of criteria and providing initial assessment for recommendation for optimal sourcing solution (outsourced, in-house, captive off-shore); Fully supports development and implementation of corrective/preventive actions plans (CAPAs) identified and represents assigned vendor accountabilities and interests on strategic transformation project teams.
The Vendor Manager will support decision making and problem solving by: Assessing supplier support needs of GMO business and functions; Developing robust proposals with options for review at the Vendor Oversight Board (VOB). Resolves concerns and challenges from the VOB to provide effective vendor action plans; Providing insight from performance and capacity metrics to inform VOB decision-making; Taking urgent corrective action based on robust and objective supplier performance data and keeps VOB appropriately informed; Taking responsibility for implementation of strategies supporting sustainable service delivery.
QualificationsA minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of industry experience is required. Current operating knowledge of global Pharmacovigilance regulations is preferred. Strong knowledge of drug Pharmacovigilance end to end processes is preferred. Supplier management experience preferred, e.g. Certified Professional in Supplier Management (CPSM) is preferred. Strong financial and analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability in complex, multi-organizational environments, international experience is preferred. Project management experience emphasizing demonstrated leadership skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams successfully is preferred.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written form; exceptional presentation skills and networking abilities and the ability to influence, negotiate and communicate with both internal and external customers is required. Process Excellence experience, evaluating operations and procedures against outcomes, drafting management recommendations and implementing improvements efficiency, accuracy and compliance showing bottom-line results is required. A working knowledge of the use of Microsoft suite of software products including Excel and Word is required.
Travel will be up to 15% both domestic and international.
