Position OverviewThe Transportation Analyst Contract role will support the strategic focus and direction in the area of transportation and customs to meet business critical objectives. Provide efficient and effective logistics services to the CLS and operating companies around inbound/outbound transportation and import/export activity. The partner company's requirements must be met while providing cost efficiencies. Support initiatives to improve transportation offering and optimize budgets. Critical interfaces are: Customer Logistics Services (CLS) and Regional Transportation Organization (RTO) Management Teams, Business Systems Analysts, RTO US and Canada Teams, UPS SC team, J&J partner companies, logistics and customs brokers suppliers, Canada Border Security Agency, WW Risk Management, WW Security, source company international specialists, and professional organizations.
Key responsibilities:Domestic and International Logistics Management:Provide operational support to the distribution centres and assigned partner portfolio (s).Manage inbound transportation to facilitate on time pick up at supplier and/or on time delivery at Canadian distribution centre.
Manage outbound transportation to facilitate on time delivery.
Prepare exports as required.
Manage invoice process through invoice auditors.
Adhere to regulations for customs clearance and expedient clearance of goods.
Metrics and Performance:Maintain key performance indicators around carrier performance, transportation cost, and shipment profiles for inbound and outbound activity for assigned partner portfolio(s).Participate in ongoing carrier performance review sessions.
Support relationships with 3rd party invoice auditing firms.
Process Compliance and Innovation:Support customs compliance programs and processes for all partner companies and SDC.Support initiatives and processes relating to compliance requirements including SOX, Regulatory, Customs, GMP.Support initiatives and processes relating to transportation security.
Participate on or lead projects to achieve CLS or GTO goals around process efficiency or cost effectiveness.
Logistics Consultation:Develop knowledge to support use of ERP and TMS systems and any associated interfaces with suppliers or service providers.
Support Manager/Senior Transportation Analysts in conducting analysis on transportation activity; identifying and presenting opportunities / recommendations to partner companies.
Remain current in industry expertise (transportation and customs) through industry involvement, education programs, and liaison with other JnJ logistics organizations.
Support Manager/Senior Transportation Analyst on special events such as Canada Customs Audit.
Business Unit and Partner Relationship Management:Act as primary GTO contact for assigned business portfolio to support daily operational requirements in the areas of transportation and customs.
Manage key metrics and assess root cause analysis for assigned portfolio.
Present partner company KPIs at regularly scheduled operational meetings.
QualificationsRelevant knowledge and experienceUniversity Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering requiredProfessional Certification in Transportation, Customs or Logistics preferred (CITT, PLog).5+ years’ experience in transportation / customs / supply chain.
Technical competency requirements:Strong data and process analysis capabilities / problem solverStrong communication skillsTechnological aptitude (especially with Microsoft Office Suite); experience with ERPs preferredInterdependent partnering skills – able to work directly with customers and partner companies to identify requirements and meet needsExcellent multitasking abilities; well organizedAble to work in high stress area; strong sense of urgencyCollaborative and team focused with the ability to work independentlySelf motivated, challenges the status quoBE VITAL in your career.
