For our department we are currently seeking for a fulltimeScientist Preclinical Immunology (m/f)Department:The Bacterial Vaccines department focuses on the research and development of vaccines against infectious diseases. Within the Bacterial Vaccines department, the preclinical immunology group evaluates the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates against infectious diseases in animal models. The main focus of the group is to conduct proof of concept studies and to generate appropriate scientific data that enable our vaccine candidates to progress towards clinical phase evaluation.
Job description:We are looking for motivated scientist, who loves challenges, to evaluate the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates. The role requires knowledge of immunological techniques such as ELISA, ELISPOT, cytokine measurements, intercellular cytokine staining, FACS analysis and cell culturing.
The scientist will be responsible for the development of assays to measure immune responses of various bacterial vaccine candidates. The focus will be both on antibody responses, B cells, memory induction and functional antibody assays such as neutralizing, serum bactericidal and opsonophagocytic assays and T cell responses (Th1, Th2, Treg), cytokine induction and proliferation assays, intercellular cytokine staining and FACS analysis.
The scientist will work in close collaboration with researchers and support the project leaders in evaluating vaccine candidates. The scientist will manage and mentor technicians to ensure high quality results.
Good skill in documentation, evaluating and reporting results are required.
QualificationsEducation:
- Ph.
D plus 2 year experience in immunology/vaccinologyExperience:
- Experience with immunological, cell culture and bacteriology techniques.
- Certification to perform animal experiments (Art. 9 or Art. 12) is preferred.
- Candidates willing to obtain the Art. 9 certificate are also encouraged to apply.
Competences:The candidates fit for the job are accurate, flexible, display ownership, initiative and team spirit. Very good knowledge of English, both verbally and written, is required.
