Project Management Leader External Collaboration PMO
- Janssen R&D Project Management Organization-000010GSDescriptionJanssen R&D Project Management Organization is seeking a Project Management Leader (PML) for the External Collaboration PMO (EC PMO) to be based in Beerse, Belgium, Leiden, The Netherlands, US East Coast or US West Coast. The EC PML will report to the Head of the EC PMO group. Up to 10% global travel may be required.
The EC PML will be actively involved in defining, consolidating, applying, improving and sustaining operational project management aspects related to externally funded projects:
- Building and expanding internal knowledge and expertise (methodology, process, tools & systems) to support project execution.
- Close collaboration with the Grant Office to set up a back-office that can provide Subject Matter Expertise in support of externally funded projects.
- Direct project or portfolio responsibilities as the Grant Project Manager on specific projects or on a cluster of projects to successfully execute these complex projects in full compliance with the contractual requirements.
The EC PML will also take the lead role of the External Collaborations Community of Practice (EC CoP) and drive further shaping of the External Collaborations environment to enable accessibility to transparent information on externally funded projects and signed external collaborations in the Janssen R&D Community.
Tasks will include:
- Maintaining a close collaboration with the Alliance Management Finance CoE to ensure full alignment and leveraging on specific financial aspects in the lifecycle of an external collaboration.
- Ensure alignment with and inclusion of external collaborations and externally funded projects in existing reports, trackers and dashboards as appropriate.
- Monitoring, anticipating and resolving any impact of JEDI implementation on the project management processes and business rules specifically for external collaborations and externally funded projects.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree such as MS, MBA, PharmD, or PhD degree in Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or related fields is highly preferred.
- Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP) or Project Management degree is desirable.
- At least 5 years of industry/business experience including at least 3 years in pharmaceutical R&D is required.
- A working knowledge of the drug discovery and/or drug development process is required. Prior experience with external funding mechanisms is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, resolve conflict, and influence teams without formal authority, is required.
- Successful experience managing or leading global and/or virtual teams is highly desirable, especially if done within a matrix organization.
- Record of successful governance body and/or stakeholder management preferred.
