The Procurement Lead, Agencies & Digital is responsible for achieving company and department goals and objectives. Success in the position is primarily measured by cost reduction/avoidance impact, value added, the strength of the Finance and business partner relationships, innovations delivered and procurement education provided to internal business partners.
This position relies on analytical abilities, industry and market analysis and awareness, and relationship building abilities with leaders across the JJGCC and other J&J Sectors, as well as with key suppliers to the company. This position reports to the Associate Director, Agencies & Digital.
The Procurement Lead, Agencies & Digital will develop Category expertise (including Creative, Digital, Professional and Public Relations (PR) and in-depth knowledge of the discipline, the Agencies and their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, as well as the discipline's competitive dynamics, and innovation trends. Develop business, category, and industry knowledge that includes the supplier base, business trends, and the business goals of the internal partners. Keep abreast of market dynamics and developments; advises and recommends to Manager and Business Partners.
This individual will manage supplier relationships that focus on total cost of ownership and supplier value. Encourage innovation through supply base. Support Supplier Management, (SM) program and build a comprehensive & consistent SM approach. Acts as liaison between business partners and agencies. Transactions require understanding of the complications of the marketplace that affect purchasing decisions such as prices versus quality versus quantity. Ensure a competitive advantage in cost, value, quality, compliance, service, and innovation.
The Procurement Lead, Agencies & Digital will work with functional business partners and Marketing Agencies, developing relationships and identifying areas of opportunities for increased efficiencies and/or marketing communication effectiveness; Partner with Digital Center of Excellence and brand marketing teams, identifying business partner needs, mapping strategies and capabilities, and working with Agencies to negotiate and build appropriate operating and commercial agreements. Assist in the assessment of the current supplier base, identifying business partner needs, mapping strategies, and working with suppliers to negotiate and build appropriate agreements to meet those needs. This individual will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the business areas in which he/she operates, and deliver measurable results. Business partners will look to this individual as a resource for broad supplier, product/service, and industry knowledge, as well as specialized sourcing expertise. In addition to the Marketing category, he/she will work closely with other J&J teams and affiliates globally.
This individual will drive continual improvement and business results through use of standardized Agency management practices and by driving innovation through the supply base. Responsible for metrics reporting, tool deployment, departmental support and creation of summary reports regarding industry, supplier and commodity profiles. These activities support advancements to improve procurement processes, Supplier Diversity, policies/ procedures. Work with functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new technologies,The Procurement Lead, Agencies & Digital will facilitate an effective negotiation process for external and internal information gathering and analysis; assessment for supplier agreement opportunities; negotiation preparation and execution, and agreement management to maximize benefits.
This individual will recommend strategies and other value-added initiatives. Provide data analysis and analytics support to the organization through review of financial and operational data to provide recommendations that lead to improved costs. Provide support in making sourcing decisions and developing negotiation strategies by analyzing and making recommendations on pricing options, models of supply agreements, market trends/indices, internal spending profiles based on historical data and projected business plans. Provides team leadership on projects as applicable.
QualificationsA minimum of a Bachelor Degree is required. A degree focused in Marketing, Finance, Business, Information Management, Communications, Supply Chain Management or related technical field is preferred. A minimum of 6 years’ professional experience is required. 3 years of procurement experience is preferred. Experience in Media or Marketing Services areas is preferred. Proven leadership, facilitation and influencing skills are required. Strong oral presentation and written communication skills required. Proven decision making/problem solving skills required. Proven experience in developing and interpreting data analytics is required. Experience with MS Word, and PowerPoint is required. Strong skills in MS Excel, with an emphasis on data summarization (Pivot tables, etc) is required. Must be a self-starter, require minimum supervision and direction, thrive in a dynamic matrix organization, and have a proven track record of delivering results. Ability to gather, evaluate and utilize complex analytical and financial data to align the needs of their business partners with the objectives of the organization is required. Experience working in a highly matrixed, global environment is preferred.
This position will be located in New Brunswick, NJ or Skillman, NJ and may require up to 20% travel.
