See information below on Vistakon and the Process Technician Roles:Vistakon Ireland is located in Limerick and produces the Acuvue range of contact lenses which is the leading contact lens product in the world. Our Limerick site uses the most advanced technology in the industry and we now employ over 800 people directly. Using our highly automated production process, we produce daily disposable contact lenses while utilizing state of the art technologies such as injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and sterilisation systems.
Vistakon Ireland was established in 1995 in the National Technology Park close to the University of Limerick. The facility was originally fitted with six advanced production lines to manufacture one daily disposable contact lens for the European and Japanese markets. Since then we have expanded a number of times and now have over 36 production lines manufacturing one-day, fortnightly, monthly and colour contact lenses which are shipped worldwide.
Each year, we have increased output because of the increase demand for our Acuvue lenses throughout the world. Continued expansion of our product lines and extensive engineering and retrofit projects ensure that this growth is sustained well into the future.
Position Summary:The process technician is critical to running our high volume, automated manufacturing process. The technicians who have the interest, energy and motivation to work in our fast moving, medical devices manufacturing environment will find the opportunity to progress through the plant.
Main duties and Responsibilities:Working on a 4 cycle shift system, you will be responsible for:
- Production output of a Class III Medical Device
- Equipment Maintenance (controls, sensors, pneumatics & electrics)
- Line efficiency (high volume production and fully automated manufacturing)
- Project work (relating to process improvement including cycle-time and yield development)
- Contribution to targets related to Safety, Quality, Compliance and Continuous ImprovementQualificationsEducation and Experience:
- An electrical or mechanical qualification and experience working in one or more of the following
- injection moulding, automation control, toolmaking, maintenance, electrical or mechanical /fitter roles
- At least three year’s experience is requiredWe seek technicians who have the interest, energy and motivation to work in our fast moving, medical devices manufacturing environment.
The successful applicant should have experience of working within a team, have excellent communication skills and be able to work under their own initiative.
All candidates must be available to work a 24/7, 12 hour rotating shift system.
