The Immunology and Orphan GPCR teams at Janssen R&D in La Jolla California is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to search for physiological ligands of orphan GPCRs and nuclear receptors which show key immunological or neuroimmunological functions. This is a joint project between Janssen and a distinguished academic immunologist. The candidate will be mentored by investigators from Janssen and the academic professor, and will carry out research work in close collaboration with members of Janssen Immunology, Janssen Neuroscience, and the academic laboratories. This position presents a unique opportunity to the candidate to interact with the group of established advisors with diverse experiences in a dynamic academic and pharmaceutical collaborative environment. The project will involve identification of putative ligands using biochemical purification and receptor-specific assays, characterization of the putative ligand in vitro and in vivo, and investigation of the roles of identified ligands and receptors in diseases.

QualificationsThe successful candidate should have a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or other closely-related field. Research experience in tissue extraction and biochemical purification and in GPCR biology is required. Experience in cellular immunology, signaling studies, nuclear receptor, and animal studies will be a plus. The qualified candidate needs to have demonstrable evidence of scientific productivity reflected in publications in peer-reviewed journals.
