We seek an exceptional candidate to join the Computational Chemistry and Bioinformatics group at Alios BioPharma. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter and team player who performs well in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. The candidate’s main responsibility will be to conduct a comprehensive scope of bioinformatics and computational activities supporting discovery and development stage oligonucleotide therapeutics projects.
QualificationsA completed Ph.
D. in bioinformatics/cheminformatics, theoretical or computational chemistry or related field with a focus on data mining and genome/proteome sequence processing is required. A publication record backing up a productive doctoral tenure is a definite plus. Experience with in silico design, structure prediction and free energy calculation for nucleic acid constructs is a plus. Knowledge of Unix/Linux, Perl/Python, vi, sed, and object-oriented programming language(s) is a must. Familiarity with leading-edge software packages relevant to the nucleic acids field, as well as the ability to create custom code to address specific research tasks is a plus. Experience with database management, SQL, and Linux system administration is a plus. Advanced understanding of biological pathways relevant to oligonucleotide therapeutics is highly desirable. Good communication skills, including ability for clear and efficient presentation of ongoing work to a diverse group of experts are expected.
