We have an exciting opportunity for a trained Phlebotomist here in Inverness. This subject matter expert will lead the donor programme for LifeScan Scotland in order to provide the correct samples for various studies. This role really offers you the chance to be make a difference to people with diabetes.
What you’re great at:You will already have experience and be a trained phlebotomist. Putting donors at ease will come naturally to you and you will provide a first class personable service to all donors and customers. You will also be able to determine the most efficient procedures in order to satisfy the various studies.
As a Phlebotomist, your typical day may include working with colleagues from across all areas of the business. You will build excellent relationships, whilst maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping within the lab area. You will have full responsibility for planning and prioritizing throughout the day.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinates the donor pool. Recruits prospective donors; consents and screens new donors; records compensation for donations.
- Performs skin puncture( venepuncture, finger-stick) on employees to meet the daily requests for blood from the departments.
- Participates in developing department procedures and best practices, demonstrating knowledge and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Interfaces with development team to provide assistance with fingerstick study.
- Able to handle blood and control solutions correctly.
- Understanding of COSHH, Health and Safety Regulations.
- Maintenance, calibration and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
What you’ll own and how you’ll grow:You will be responsible for the daily collection of blood samples and supporting the various studies. You will liaise with the various departments to ensure their needs are met together with ensuring donors safety. With more than 1000 members of staff on site here in Inverness, you will work with professionals of many different backgrounds providing information vital to product manufacture and new product development. This will give you a unique chance to broaden your experience whilst ensuring the delivery of LifeScan products to our customers.
QualificationsBE VITAL:To be part of this performing team you will be a qualified phlebotomist which excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also have:
- Certified in adult CPR and first aid
- Knowledge and desire to review process and suggest process improvements.
- CGMP, GLP experience and understanding
- Understanding of ethical regulations and standards
- Basic understanding of clinical regulations and standards
- Experience in drawing blood through vein puncture and skin punch
- Blood handling experience
