- A PhD student position is available in our Neuroscience Discovery Therapeutic Area focusing on Alzheimer disease for an interdisciplinary PhD program which includes an innovative research with cutting edge methodology, an excellent training, international exchanges, and a translational collaborative orientation. Duration of the program is for 3 years. Candidates will participate in a European training network, sponsored by Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions.
- The candidate will perform in vitro electrophysiological recordings and high content structural imaging analysis from brain slices or from cultured neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Preferably, candidates should have some previous expertise in obtaining brain slices for electrophysiology and for imaging analysis.
- As part of a multidisciplinary project team, the candidate will function as a research scientist in the electrophysiology lab to investigate the effect of tau pathology on synaptic transmission at the functional and structural level.
- The candidate is expected to actively participate in the interdisciplinary PhD program with the goal to investigate synaptic dysfunctions in Alzheimer´s disease.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a masters degree in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or related discipline;
- The candidate should have knowledge on neuroscience in particular for the mechanisms of synaptic transmission.
- Should demonstrate strong interest for in vitro electrophysiology and high content structural imaging;
- Should have demonstrated experience in working in a lab environment and have the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team;
- Possess an enthusiastic, flexible and creative approach to problem solving;
- Should have excellent communication and organizational skills;
