POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe patient engagement manager will explore the patient group environment. He/she will develop and implement a patient-engagement and communications strategy for assigned therapeutic areas on behalf of Janssen. This should build patient group knowledge, capabilities and resources with a view to improving patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will continue to strengthen our patient focus by enhancing the way we interact with patient organisations and further the establishment of meaningful partnershipsCore Responsibilities:
- Define and develop a patient group engagement and communications strategy at a national level ensuring alignment with Janssen EMEA.
- Develop and maintain expertise in assigned therapy areas to understand the key issues associated with the disease and its treatment.
- Undertake Patient group stakeholder and influencer mapping.
- Develop strong relationships with local and national patient groups, representatives from patient groups and appropriate Health Care Professionals, to establish the patient population’s needs and build partnerships in the therapy area.
- Implement agreed strategy by developing appropriate educational materials and programmes. This should be done in close collaboration with the cross functional therapy area teams and will require close internal working relationships.
- Disseminate approved educational and therapy area information or materials to appropriate patient groups and appropriate HCPs involved in the support of patient groups.
- Support internal communication around specific Health Awareness Days/Patient Advocacy initiatives.
- Develop feedback systems to monitor the value and quality of materials, programmes and activities for continued improvement in future activities.
- Provide point of contact to align with EMEA patient focused activities. Influence the EMEA plans in provision of appropriate activities for the local operating company to ensure that patient needs are being met.
- Leverage social media to highlight Janssen’s patient group engagement activities.
- A thorough understanding of the current Irish new product reimbursement system with a view to informing, educating and advising patient groups to ensure the patient voice is considered and that access to innovative medicines is delivered in a timely fashion.
- A thorough understanding of Healthcare Compliance Business Integrity as it relates to patient group engagement and the IPHA Code of Practice is requirement.
QualificationsCandidate Profile:
- A university degree in a related field, such as communications, public policy or health care, is a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in patient advocacy or communications is required.
- Proven business experience in the pharma sector is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- High level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly skilled in establishing and building networks.
- Ability to handle a complex, multiple stakeholder environment internally as well as externally.
- A proven record of demonstrating strategic, creative thinking resulting in tangible business outcomes.
- A team player with an ability to work collaboratively and establish positive working relationships with colleagues within a matrix organization and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in English with a broad knowledge and awareness of current affairs.
