Candidates will be expected to perform computer-based literature and structure searching in the chemical and related art groups and will take direction from the attorneys responsible for the research units over which both employees have responsibility. The candidate should be able to work independently, balance multiple job tasks, prioritize tasks well, and be comfortable writing technical documents. They will attend research group meetings, meet with scientists in their assigned groups, review scientific publications and patents. They will assist the attorneys in the assessment of inventions for patentability and will be knowledgeable of rules in the United States Patent Office. The candidate is able to independently draft patent applications for attorney review and filing with the U.S Patent Office.
QualificationsA M.S. or Ph.
D. is required, preferably in organic chemistry or a related degree. A minimum of 2 years of experience in the laboratory is preferred. Working vocabulary in patent law and experience assessing patents for patentability is preferred. English fluency both written and verbal is required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required. Candidate is required to be a registered U.S. Patent Agent. Previous experience as a Patent Manager/Liaison is preferred.
