Medical Translation Manager-1500026226WDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYMedical Translation Manager in Janssen China R&D Medical Writing & Translation Service Center collaborates with Lead writers in China and global team, and members of the China clinical study team to conduct key QC review and manage the translation of protocols, Clinical Study Reports (CSRs), submission dossier, and other strategic regulatory documents from English to Chinese. The scope of the work includes global, regional, and local studies across all phases of human development. The translation manager is also expected to manage flexible resources contracted with Janssen or alliance partners, and be responsible for resource planning, analysis and allocation for the dedicated translation subteam.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Responsible for conducting key QC review to ensure the quality of translated scientific/clinical documents in assigned area. Also responsible for delivering trainings to the whole translation team and leading the process optimization, translation training system, etc.
B. Specific duties:1. Conducts 2nd QC review of translated clinical documentsa. Ensure that translated documents is of high quality in terms of scientific content, as well as organization per regulatory and internal guidances, clarity, and accuracyb. QC review must be conducted within established timelines and in accordance with internal processes.2. Takes a proactive or lead role on translation activities in terms of content and engages in scientific collaboration.3. Works collaboratively in a team environment, and takes a proactive role on multiple assigned projects with respect to timing, scheduling, tracking, and regulatory strategy as appropriate.
C. Judgment (decision-making):Decision-making includes: recognizing how to best interpret and translate statistical and medical interpretation of data into Chinese wordings to ensure quality and accuracy of content, under very minimal supervision.
D. Initiative:Works as a lead or member of a team under very minimal direction and is responsible for organizing own time in an optimal fashion. Proactive in identifying opportunities for greater productivity and participates in finding flexible solutions.
E. Contact with others (interdependent partnering and cross-functional collaboration):Interacts in a manner that facilitates teamwork and productivity. Takes an active role (with demonstrated ability to take on a lead role) on assigned projects with respect to planning of timeline and resource. Interacts with and be capable to oversee/supervise external service providers as needed. Can mentor/manage junior translators.
QualificationsDESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS
- Masters or above majoring in English, biology, medicine, pharmacy or other life science related areas.
- At least 4 years’ dedicated medical writing / medical translation related experience in the pharmaceutical / healthcare industry. Experience in multinational companies is preferred.
- Excellent English and Chinese writing.
