We are seeking Medical / Scientific Adviser to join to support our commercial knee business, to cover the entire UK.Job Scope:Candidates who are medically-qualified are eligible for the Medical Adviser position, candidates who are qualified in other relevant disciplines, but not medically qualified, are eligible for the Scientific Adviser position. This can either be based in our Leeds head office, or can be field-based anywhere in mainland UK. Due to the need for regular travel, field-based role holders must be based near a major airport/ transport hub, and should be able to travel to Leeds on a regular basis. Travel will be primarily within the UK, but there will be a need for some international travel.
Role:As Medical / Scientific Adviser, you will provide technical expertise and support to the knee business, with particular focus on the recently launched Attune knee system.
Reporting to the Medical Director, you will use your orthopaedic expertise to support customers and colleagues in the UK and Ireland. This is a new, highly visible position that will allow the successful candidate to shape the role and help establish the medical affairs function in the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities:Answer complex customer questions about the Attune knee system and our other knee productsPresent product and therapy area information to customers as requestedEngage in peer-to-peer conversations about the company’s products and knee disease with a wide-range of healthcare professionals and other important stakeholdersDiscuss emerging safety issues with customers as neededMaintain and develop a deep knowledge of knee disease, including latest treatment approaches and unmet clinical needs in the UK and IrelandHelp support the sales & marketing team through ongoing updates on the UK knee disease environment and important emerging dataSupport colleagues from health economics and market access to help demonstrate the value of our productsSupport local execution of clinical research activitiesProvide input into the company’s professional education strategy for knee surgeons in the UK & IrelandProvide expert input into responses to key stakeholders, for example, regulatory bodies, clinicians, device registries, payors and patientsRepresent the medical affairs function to key external stakeholders as requiredQualificationsQualifications:EssentialMedical Adviser: A GMC-registered physician with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in surgery, including time spent in relevant specialties such as orthopaedics, trauma, spinal surgery or sports medicine.
Scientific Adviser: A bioengineering/science graduate with significant expertise in orthopaedics and/or related fields, gained in either an academic or a corporate R&D environment.
Knowledge of orthopaedic implants, and their use in clinical practiceExperience of clinical researchUnderstanding of common biostatistical & epidemiological methodsStrong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a complex matrix working environment.
