Medical Science Liaison Hematology Belgium-00000ZKBOmschrijvingThe Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is jointly responsible, together with Medical Advisor and/or Medical Affairs Manager and/or Director MAF, to develop and execute medical excellence and medical leadership in his assigned therapeutic area (TA) for a Dutch or Belgian region(s) (according to assignment) and to provide product support in line with CVT and MAF strategy for his/her assigned TA and regions. The MSL will focus on the Medical Field activities by developing a network of Leading Specialists and by developing, initiating and executing medical education activities, with focus on local medical education activities.
Place in the organizationThe Medical Scientific Liaison reports to the Associate Director MSL & MedEd Benelux, who is part of the Medical department lead by the Medical Director Benelux who is a member of the Management Board.
Tasks and responsibilitiesThe function Medical Scientific Liaison contains the following main tasks & responsibilities:Perform overall MSL role
- To maximize company value and assure right use of product(s) through high scientific quality communication with Leading Specialists on a peer-to-peer basis. This includes developing a regional medical affairs (MAF) plan in line with overall MAF and Leading Specialist plan. Through activities in line with the Medical Affairs Plan, the Medical Scientific Liaison is jointly responsible (together with Medical Advisor and/or Medical Affairs Manager and/or Director MAF) for the realization of short-term and long-term company goals. To be a therapeutic area scientific expert, develop a company vision on treatment paradigms, be responsible for discussing our products, patients’ treatment trends and studies in the therapeutic areas in which we are involved, on a peer-to-peer basis with defined audience of Leading Specialists (Physicians, Pharmacists, Hospital Managers, Board Members of Scientific Societies, and other stakeholders) and to be considered a trusted scientific counterpart and be recognized as a partner.
Execute MAF Plan
- Initiate, develop and execute Medical field activities, in line with MAF and Leading Specialist plans for his/her TA, being an integral part of CVT plan.
- Roll-out/ execute medical projects coming from MAM, MA and/or PMO and feedback progress to responsible MAM, MA and/or PMO contact.
- Support Medical Affairs study execution:
- Signals need for compassionate use / medical need programs within the legal boundaries.
- Liaise with investigators and sites to optimize execution of interventional and non-interventional Medical Affairs/GCO studies.
- Channels investigator proposals for investigator initiated studies and to ensure they are discussed within the Medical Affairs department for decision.
- Planning, organization and participation in Medical Education activities:
- Identify/support/educate speakers.
- Develop Medical Education programs with scientific third party and MAM/MA.
- Manage assigned Medical Education budget, as appropriate.
- Organization and participation in Advisory Boards in cooperation with other MAF team members, as appropriate.
Be Professional Member of Regional Stakeholder Team
- Responsible for development and execution of regional account plans together with Product Specialist and KAM for his/her region/country.
- Feedback of market and customer experience information towards MAM/MA as well as status and alignment on regional action plans as set out by regional channel teams, especially on medical requirements needed.
Build & Maintain LS Network
- Development and maintenance of a contact network with Leading Specialists.
- Understands their needs, key value drivers, practical treatment patterns and scientific activities within therapeutic area.
- Communicates value of company products, incl. formulary discussions.
- Through scientific interactions, champions medical benefits of products and contribute to foster innovative approaches.
- Represents the company within therapeutic area professional associations in cooperation with other Medical Affairs team members.
- Partnership in development of new treatment paradigms.
- Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data to Leading Specialists.:
- Proactive communication only within label. Off-label communication only in reaction to an unsolicited request.
- Communicates directly and proactively medical scientific data
- Communicates non-promotional general information about our company, including description of research and development programs.
- Responds to unsolicited scientific queries of customers for approved products and products/indications in development, based on Medical Affairs and Medical Information documents and refer to CSC where appropriate.
- Gives external presentations on disease area, and products.
- Briefing of external speakers on products and disease area.
- Through scientific interactions:
- Gain valuable insights into treatment patterns, and scientific activities in the TA and provide input to the company Medical Affairs Plan / business decision making.
- With Leading Specialists, champion medical benefits of products and contribute to foster innovative therapeutic approaches to benefit patients.
Be a Medical Education Champion for assigned area (if appointed)
- If appointed, be a MedEd Champion for a designated MedEd area (e.g. Janssen Academy, Digital, ..) and serve as a knowledge base for MSL colleagues as well as a sharer of best practices across TAs for the assigned MedEd area. The champion is responsible for further innovative development of MedEd tools, channels, etc within assigned MedEd area.
Ensure Medical Quality & Consistency
- Provide scientific support to company Product Specialists, Marketing and others, as appropriate.
- Provide medical training and scientific support:
- Ensure product and medical knowledge of regional team members (e.g. Product Specialists) within assigned region(s) is on par and of right quality and provide training on the job when necessary.
- Acts as a reference point to regional team members (e.g. Product Specialists) for scientific queries, as appropriate.
Ensure Compliance
- Make sure all activities deployed are in line with HCBI regulations and ensure review by Ass. Director MSL & MedEd (and HCC in case of value transfer).KwalificatiesFor the function Medical Scientific Liaison the following qualifications are required:
- Scientific Degree: Medical Doctor, pharmaceutical or biomedical degree or equivalent by experience, phd is strong asset
- Strong analytical, communication, decision-making and leadership skills for interaction with external and internal customers and partners
- Highly customer focused
- Excellent communication skills (including presentation skills) and team player
- Willing to comply with regulatory requirements and with company policy on business integrity
- Languages: Dutch, French (if assigned in French speaking Belgium), English: spoken, written
