The Manager Project Management reports to the Director of Project Office and is responsible for day to day management a team of project managers accountable for infrastructure project planning and delivery.
This PM is responsible for project execution excellence ensuring compliance with J&J PM practices and standards.
This role will partner with ITS Program Management COE and ITS Portfolio Office to identify and implement process improvements to enhance project management quality and drive efficiencies.
General ResponsibilitiesProgram Management: Drive and lead complex strategic initiatives, programs, and major business initiatives. Overall responsibility for planning and executing program management strategy including program organization structure including key vendors; partner with Sourcing to identify and implement appropriate contractual vehicles with leading IT product and service providers.to provide features and capabilities required per business need and allocated project scope, program budget and financial management; project work streams and their respective scope, budget, major milestones, and interdependencies; program execution and delivery; and program closure.
Project Quality: Reviews and provides feedback on all key project management deliverables developed by his/her staff for projects exceeding $500K to drive improvements in overall project quality and foster project delivery excellence. Partners with ITS Program Management COE to identify systemic issues and to develop, pilot, and implement PM process improvements.
People Management: Manage a team of project managers proactively performing development planning and providing career coaching and day-to-day supervision.
Resource Management: Partner with ITS PMO to align project management demand and assign “right-fit” PM resources based on project complexity.
Financial Management: Overall accountability for organizational unit’s budget including planning, forecasting, monitoring and addressing budget variances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 10 years program and project management experience
- 5 years managing globally distributed infrastructure service delivery teams
- Experience planning and implementing a global or enterprise-wide multi-year IT program with 3 or concurrent project work streams and an annual budget of $12 million or more
- Financial Management for program budget of $9M
- $12M
- Knowledge of Instantis and Microsoft Project Server is a plus
- Background in vendor management, specifically establishing and performing oversight of Managed Service Providers
- Track record mentoring effective project managers who are able to successfully execute complex initiatives
- Has directly managed 5-8 staff
- Strategic thinker
- Program Management Professional or Prince 2 certification (preferred)
- Demonstrates a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency.
- Is superior at building collaboration and teamwork.
