Internship ‘Do-It-Right’ / Operator Certification(Vacaturenummer:00000YWI)OmschrijvingMentor is a leading supplier of medical products for the global aesthetic medicine market. The Company develops, manufactures and markets innovative, science-based products for aesthetics markets around the world. Mentor Leiden manufactures high-quality breast implants that are used for breast augmentation and breast reconstruction.
Department:The Quality Engineering department is responsible to ensure that product is flowing through the production line and only compliant products which meet all performance criteria are released. Furthermore, the department is responsible to lead or support improvement projects. The activities performed at this department include, but are not limited to, non-conformance investigations, risk evaluation during production processes and validations and the establishment of sample plans.
Do-It-Right Initiative:Mentor has started an initiative to increase quality awareness amongst all personnel. This initiative, called ‘Do-It Right’ (or DIR), is built upon several best practices from the J&J supply chain which are divided in Leadership Engagement & Culture, Robust Processes and Education Training and Standard work.
Operator Certification:Operator Certification is a production certification program designed to ensure associates have the appropriate qualifications to perform Quality Inspections and disposition product. Mentor started deployment of an Operator Certification program and the goal for 2015 is to implement Operator Certification in a pilot area (Pad printing).Responsibilities & Accountabilities:During the internship, you will familiarize yourself with Mentor and you will learn about Quality Engineering department and the, Do-It-Right, and Operator Certification initiatives.
Specifically to the assignment, you will familiarize yourself with project management by leading/supporting key elements of the different DIR best practices. You will identify practices from other (globally orientated) sites that you will roll out into the Leiden site. Key aspect of this internship is to ensure good communication to a broad audience (technicians/ managers/ professionals).You will learn the company’s business need for continuous improvement and you will develop your project management skills throughout the assignment. This comprises;
- Analyzing key metrics to track progress of projects.
- The preparation of meetings.
- Communication (marketing) to all employees comprising of visuals, instructions, presentations etc.
- Lead and coordinate meetings.
Besides the main focus above you will be exposed to others activities related to the Quality Engineering department.
Internship objectiveOne of the goals of this project is to effectively introduce and support quality improvement projects into the site that support the Do-It-Right initiative. Another goal is to help with the implementation of the Operator Certification Program in a pilot area. In order to accomplish this, the intern should identify/ establish/ implement practices and ensure good communication to all stakeholders.
KwalificatiesCandidate profile
- Are you a Masters student, studying a technical or scientific discipline?
- Are you looking for an internship that focuses on management for approximately 40 hours per week?
- Are you a teamplayer, analytic, flexible, well organized and able to engage others?
- Are you able to work in an international environment that requires fluent English and Dutch (Speak/ Write)?
- Are you familiar with Microsoft office programs?Start date & DurationThe start date depends on your school’s requirements. Possible start dates at Mentor are the first workday of the month or the third Monday of the month. The preferred internship duration is 6 Months, if your University requires a different duration; this can be discussed.
