Mentor Worldwide LLC is a leading supplier of medical products for the global aesthetic market. The company develops, manufactures, and markets innovative, science-based products for surgical and non-surgical medical procedures that allow patients to improve their quality of life through breast, body and facial aesthetics.
The Group Product Director, Global Strategic Marketing – Breast Implants is a critical leadership position within the Mentor Global Strategic Marketing Team in the CSS Group. This talented marketer will lead the strategic development and execution of the global product marketing strategy for Mentor’s Breast Implant portfolio (and associated accessories and ancillary products) within both the breast reconstructive and augmentation markets.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the development of our Breast Implant product portfolio roadmap and launch of the respective new products, product line extensions & product iterations on a worldwide basis. This position will serve as a leadership member of any breast implant development core teams interfacing with multiple functions including R&D, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs, Sales Learning and Education, Professional Education and Supply Chain among others. This talented marketer identifies unmet needs in plastic surgery through the design and execution of global Voice of Customer (VOC) activities to translate these needs into Critical to Quality areas (CTQs) and subsequently to lead the development of the product requirements and Target Product Profiles. He /She will develop new product value propositions (positioning, price, and promotion) for products in the Breast Implant portfolio and will also launch these products globally.
The position will be based out of the new CSS headquarters in Irvine, CA.Key responsibilities include:Member of Global Strategic Marketing Leadership TeamDevelops and manages strategic new product marketing plans and programs for Mentor Breast Implant product lines to grow the business and meet/exceed global Business Plan forecastsLeads the marketing function on cross-functional new product core teamsWork closely with New Business Development and R&D to develop next generation Breast Implant products and procedural techniques / workflows to ensure Mentor maximizes the opportunities in the both reconstructive and cosmetic market segmentsDevelop marketing plans, forecasts and financial models to support New Product Development Opportunities globally with input from regional commercial groups to account for local variations & various stages of market maturityBalance internal vs. external development to ensure most effective use of R&D resources, to ensure development of cost effective solutions, time to market and balanced portfolio (incremental vs. transformational vs. line extension)Monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the right products get developed for the right marketsCollaborate with Global Business Insights group for all competitive intelligence and competitive information related to the Breast Implant product portfolioWorks closely with Mentor sales, regional marketing and R&D staff globally to identify new product opportunities and then analyzes and presents appropriate opportunities to the Mentor Management Board.
Understands and anticipates customer needsAnalyzes competitive products and incorporates competitive strategies into product development plansDevelops value proposition (positioning, price, and promotion) for new productsFormulates clinical claims development for new products, working with Medical Affairs and Clinical and Regulatory AffairsDelivers product training at global launch training programsEnsures product knowledge is effectively transferred to commercial regional groups and field organizationsEnsures business continuity through demand planning and forecasting activities with regional commercial marketing partnersResponsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management levelResponsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good conditionResponsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws. Also responsible for following all Company regulations, policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as neededQualificationsBachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree (MBA, MSc) strongly preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience with prior experienceHealthcare experience is required with a preference in in medical device industry requiredMinimum of 3 years experience in a product marketing and/or inline marketing experience role preferredPlastic Surgery/aesthetics knowledge preferredDemonstrated experience developing and implementing marketing goals, strategies and tacticsProven track record of success in marketing skills of planning, positioning and execution, with an emphasis on collecting Voice of Customer informationDemonstrated experience leading cross-functional and marketing teams to deliver on objectives including revenue, market share and profitabilityAbility to travel 40% worldwide including weekends for conferences or events.
