EMEA Network Optimization Manager-000010U6DescriptionJohnson & Johnson Customer and Logistics Services (CLS) is a global Supply Chain organization that supports operating units across all of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. The Customer and Logistics Services EMEA team is recruiting for a Network Optimization Manager within its Strategy & Deployment EMEA group. This position is ideally located in Zug, CH or Diegem, BECLS strives to deliver an exceptional customer experience through leading critical customer facing-functions such as distribution, customer service, logistics and transportation. The Strategy & Deployment group focuses on creating and deploying strategic capabilities to maximize value to Johnson & Johnson. CLS supports all three sectors of Johnson & Johnson: Medical Device & Diagnostics, Pharmaceutical, and Consumer Products. CLS is represented in multiple countries, and continues to grow globally in both visibility and responsibility.
CLS EMEA manages a complex network of Distribution centers (DC’s) and Customer Services centers across Europe, Middle East and Africa supporting multiple distribution channels to J&J broad range of customers. Since 2013 CLS has undertaken a complete review of its network and consolidated its footprint while driving best in class distribution operations and leveraging Third Party Logistic sourcing base.
The CLS EMEA Network Optimization Manager will be responsible for the governance and reporting of the network optimization progam (~ 25 remaining active projects planned up to 2017) and will be in direct contact with all operational and functional leaders in EMEA to drive flawless project execution and timely reporting. He/she will coordinate across various functional and operational teams to ensure projects are adequately resourced, project plans incorporate best practices (sourcing, Q&C, IT, etc…) and project status and financials are adequately maintained within our cost improvement software. He/she will provide monthly reports and align with the regional PMO and Global Network Optimization Lead and on a quarterly basis to the regional Leadership Team to highlight progress and risks to the network optimization program and confirm fulfilment of strategic commitments.
OPERATIONAL (50%):Manage effective governance process of CLS EMEA Network Optimization Program:
- Maintain/improve network optimization program's overall schedule ensuring alignment with all relevant operational and functional leaders. Ensure that sourcing events are planned in alignment with Warehouse Sourcing Manager.
- Track project impact to DC footprint ensuring timely and accurate update to EDGE database
- Drive flawless project execution by ensuring all network optimization projects adhere to milestone schedule / stage gates, Final Project objectives and scope agreed upon during formal Project Kick Off and tracked on a monthly basis during Project Leadership Team reviews.
- Drive the optimization project's data accuracy in cost improvement software – in particular, project actuals are locked and status/risks are captured monthly before C+7
- Review and sign off project charters in Instantis as Program Leader
- Lead monthly network optimization program PMO governance meeting (C+9) to ensure effective decision making and escalation with Regional PMO and Global Network Optimization lead
- Communicate network optimization program overview to all operational/functional groups and CLS Leadership Team quarterly.
Manage special projects impacting the network:
- Ensure Pallet scheme standard are applied consistently and effectively in EMEA
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on process improvements (ASN, GS1…etc)STRATEGIC (30%):Conduct EMEA network optimization analysis:
- By learning and using network modeling software
- By interacting with CLS Network Optimization Global Program lead and counterparts in other regionsPartner with global and regional network teams on network studies that span EMEA and other regionsParticipate in CLS network team to develop CLS playbook on network, and standardize network design process and templates.
Support deployment of CLS logistic best practices:
- Global Tender & WH transfer process: by interacting with CLS Warehouse Sourcing Manager and CLS contract team
- Quality Agreement Global Standard : by interacting with CLS Quality & Compliance team
- Instantis PPM and FPX : by interacting with CLS regional PMO 30%LEADERSHIP (20%):Drive adherence to network optimization program's overall schedule and DC footprint optimization plans:
- Work with CLS Leaders to drive expectations and accountability on project flawless execution and risk based reporting
- Responsible for project budget, business case creation and budget reviews on given projects/programs
- Manage collaborative relationship between the Sales and Supply Chain organizations on given programs
- Work proactively with customers, LSPs, cross-sector business partners, Transportation team & manufacturing plants on service and cost improvement initiatives
- Supporting logistics changes as part of the wider CLS, supply chain & sales strategy: improvement of logistics cost; Network modelling; Channel ManagementManage direct report and coach affiliates resource on projectADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Represent CLS and Strategy & Deployment within wider J&J Supply Chain as required.
Qualifications
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations.
- 8 years prior work experience in a Logistics, Customer Services or Supply Chain environment.
- 5+ years experience working with Third Party Logistics providers
- Project management skills or hands on experience of co-ordinating cross functional teams.
- Experience in managing programs and associated governance process
- Ability to work independently, manage complexity and take ownership for deliverables.
- Experience of leading process improvements and/or change management programs.
- Knowledge of factors that drive network decisions and trade-offs required for network decisions
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to manage peer and more senior stakeholders.
- Numerate and IT literate (i.e. all MS Office applications).
- Knowledge of WMS & TMS applications.

REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Role requires some travelling but will be based in one location (ideally Zug or Diegem).
