The District Business Manager, IPT & Diabetes Treatment leads team of professional selling representatives & clinical sales managers to deliver the achievement of district sales and clinical objectives. In doing so the DBM will need to apply strategic thinking & advanced business acumen skills to create growth and gain competitive market share. Critical to this role is the advanced need to acquire and develop talent, take prudent risks, be self-aware and adaptable.
This leader will hold his / her people accountable to competent execution of the business strategies within the district that results in the achievement of their business goals. The DBM also identifies and builds and maintains a network of key opinion leaders, influencers, and stakeholders across the District to support business development activity and to increase access to decision makers. The DBM will be ultimately accountable for the team's achievement of the districts business goals and will be required to effectively lead and develop their team in a highly competitive and changing market environment. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all team members are advancing in their development and raising their skills and competency profiles which will create a strong leadership pipeline.
To achieve the key people leadership objectives, the DBM will spend significant time in the field with their team members, visiting customers and observing their team members in action. This field time will be the primary basis for the coaching, accountability and development of their teams. The DBM will also lead discussions of their people in succession planning and talent review forums. In addition to the above, the DBM will be required to always maintain a heightened focus on employee safety, particularly the safety of employees while driving and will be required to hold employees accountable to safe driving behavior and ensure that all safe driving training requirements are completed by all team members.
To be effective, the DBM will need to have, or quickly acquire, in-depth market knowledge that will inform their district level business plans. Their district business plans will need to ensure the achievement of the sales & market share goals, deliver reach and frequency metrics, and identify the priority opportunities for growth. They will also be required to create effective relationships with key customer and influencers in their district.
The District Manager exhibits Credo values and a compliance mentality and works proactively and collaborates with key partners in other parts of the organization to effectively execute their business plans. Some of these groups include: Inside Sales, Channel, Managed Markets, Sales Development & Systems, Sales Operations and Training, Professional and Medical Affairs / Field Professional Relations, JJDI, Customer Support, Corporate Clinical Operations (Training Services, Blood Glucose Management Clinical Contract Management and Clinical Services Program Management) and LifeScan Animas Insulin Pump TBMs and Clinical Specialists.
Operationally, the DBM will be required to improve financial performance by effectively managing resources and budget, launches new products and executes promotional programs.

QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree is required, advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of previous Professional, Channel, Managed Markets or Government Sales experience is preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales management or successful completion of a Johnson & Johnson Management Development program is preferred. Successful and consistent track record of delivering results in the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device sales industry is required. Proven track record in managing and leading a large workforce remote based is preferred. Strong business partnering, negotiation and influencing skills are required. Demonstrated capability to skillfully communicate with all levels of employees, influence outcomes and establish credibility is required. Demonstrated ability to interact with patients of diverse backgrounds and to resolve conflict is required. This position could require up to 60% travel which may include overnight and/or weekends. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 United States and a clean driving record. Previous Diabetes Care field sales and/or management experience is strongly preferred.
