This position is based in Guelph, Ontario.
Role Summary:The Director, Quality Operations position has ownership of the Guelph, Canada manufacturing site Quality processes. This individual provides leadership and counsel to the achievement of sustainable compliance with Canadian and other applicable government GMP regulations as well as Enterprise Standards, in the conduct of plant activities.
This individual supports development of leading edge quality systems, provides counsel to and interpretation of current/emerging compliance trends, and ensures Quality MAKE talent development to meet current and future needs of the organization.
As a member of the Americas MAKE Quality & Compliance organization, this individual participates in setting regional strategies and provides long range input to MAKE objectives.
Major Responsibilities:Develop strategies designed to assure compliance with Quality SystemsProvide leadership /support for development of Quality standards impacting the siteInteract with Health Canada and other regulators, representing the Guelph siteManage Guelph Quality MAKE activities to maximize quality, compliance and customer serviceEnsure effective deployment of resources with respect to personnel, budget and physical inputsSupport open communication with regulatory authorities as a vehicle to influence positive GMP regulatory change and evaluate impact of changes on site activityEnsure GMP compliance inspection readiness of the siteProvide an environment supporting innovation and employee engagementEnsure delivery of critical metrics (quality, compliance, customer service and efficiency)Collaborate to identify, investigate, report, correct and prevent GMP deficienciesEnsure a safe and healthy work environment for all Guelph Quality MAKE employeesParticipate in Global MAKE Quality & Compliance strategic initiatives, shaping the global organization and its processesEnsure the deployment and sustainability of process improvement initiatives (JJPS, Make2Win, Zero Defect)Provide governance to the deployment of major systems initiatives (LIMS, CDS, ERP)QualificationsEducation & Experience:B.Sc. or equivalent degree in a science discipline (chemistry, microbiology, pharmacy) related to the work being performed in Quality Assurance is required. Master’s degree as asset.
Minimum 10 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is required.
Experience in a leadership role in Quality & Compliance is required.
Experience successfully managing people is required.
Experience in Rx Pharmaceutical, OTC, Cosmetics and/or Medical Devices is required.
Advanced knowledge of current GMPs, Health Canada, FDA regulations is required.
Project management experience is preferred.
Competencies:Strong influencing and negotiations experience is required.
Ability to manage complexity and a diverse team is required.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
Advanced ability to ascertain goals and conduct goal oriented tasks efficiently and independently is required.
