Procurement recognizes the Strategy, Portfolio and Performance Management roles as key enablers of functional alignment and excellence, shaping and roll-out of regional and functional strategy, business planning, performance management, stakeholder engagement and change management.
An enterprise-wide approach to drive robust Business Planning, Portfolio and Performance Management framework while leveraging capabilities consistently at enterprise level has been designed within Corporate Tier. The role will be embedded within and accountable to the Global Sector/Function Leadership Teams (LTs) or Regional Governance Council (GC) with strong connectivity to the Global Strategy, Portfolio & Performance Management Lead within the framework of the Global Strategy & Project Management Office (PMO) Council.
The role will be in charge of consistent deployment of enterprise and sector/function standards, frameworks, processes, best practices, tools, competence building and coaching within the respective Global Sector/Function teams. In addition, the role will also carry critical cross-tier Business Unit Initiatives (BUI) and Enterprise Business Strategies (EBS) and cross-functional interface responsibilities with other Johnson & Johnson functions.
The Director, Global Strategy & PMO will be responsible for Strategy & Portfolio Management including leading the development of Long-term Vision and underpinning strategy for the Sector/Function. Shape and implement a framework for short and mid-term strategy development addressing emerging business needs within the annual integrated business planning cycle. Focus on stakeholder engagement enablement and alignment with sector/function plans and priorities. Lead the global sector/function yearly business planning process and strategic portfolio. Lead the periodic business plan update process for the global sector/function team fully integrated with business planning and performance management; enablement of the Business Engagement Leaders for consistent and aligned stakeholder engagement business alignment and prioritization process. In addition this individual will design and implement the global sector/function strategic portfolio focused on excellence in execution. Select and deploy processes and tools to support portfolio execution. Advise portfolio and program owners and teams to ensure that strategic and priority programs are consistently and effectively managed within the scope of well-structured portfolios targeting delivery against business planning and functional commitments. Develop and manage sector/function or enterprise-level programs and drive alignment, planning and tracking across all stakeholders involved. In collaboration with Strategy & PMO Council (SPMO), develop and deploy a strategic portfolio performance management framework and process; focus on standardization and stratification of dashboards, scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs). On behalf of the Global LTs, manage all relevant communications for strategy and governance in collaboration with Communications and Change Leads.
In terms of Performance Management, the Director Global Strategy & PMO will implement and lead the enterprise performance management process within the respective Global Sector/Function or Regional team. Effectively leverage Finance and EBS resources to deliver and manage a robust, adaptable and highly business-integrated performance management framework. In collaboration with market intelligence and category management explore and deploy relevant to the sector/function industry benchmarking against critical KPIs. Collaborate within the Strategy & PMO Council as well as with Finance and Business Engagement Leads on embedding the enterprise performance management framework, dashboards and scorecards within the operational cycles of both the Business and Procurement function. Initiate and lead Sector/Function/Regional KPI Improvement programs and drive alignment, planning and tracking across all stakeholders involved. Collaborate within the Strategy & PMO Council and with EBS to assess, select & deploy enterprise-level processes and tools to support Performance Management.
The Director Global Strategy & PMO is also has Strategic Planning and Governance responsibilities where this individual will lead the strategic and operation planning of the Global Sector/Function Leadership team. Manage the business stakeholder engagement program of the Global LT. Manage all key internal, cross-functional and external forums of the Global LT. Engage actively in the Enterprise Procurement planning and leadership forums.
This individual also has leadership responsibilities where they will be an active member of the Strategy & PMO Council. Others responsibilities to be further defined within G&O’s and specific role scope.
This leader will need to work closely with various internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to J&J Finance, Senior Sector/Function Business Leadership, Global procurement Leadership Team, Global Procurement Sector/Function LTs, Regional GCs, Procurement Function Center Of Excellence, Category Leaders, Key external benchmarking organizations, strategic suppliers and industry associations.
QualificationsMinimum of a Bachelor Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience required (preferably a combination of Procurement and Performance Management, Project Management, Strategic Business Planning and/or related field). Minimum 3 years of people management experience is required. A strong track record of program/project management and experience in standards and best practices design is required. A demonstrated track record of success in Business Planning and Execution
- preferably within Procurement is required. The ability to shape and sustain accelerated development around excellence in execution, new business process engineering and deployment and large scale program management through the use of metrics, analysis and benchmarking is required. Prior success in the implementation of Capability Framework/Strategies is required. Track record of effectively leading and influencing within a global matrix environment across multiple businesses and initiatives is required. Strong business and finance acumen, deep understanding of managing for impact in a highly complex multi-application, multi-function environment is required. Ability to partner effectively and influence at all levels including senior leadership outside the function and outside J&J is required. Demonstrated engagement and facilitation skills at most senior level (VP and above) is required. Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills as well as the ability to work in a complex matrix organization is required. The location for this position is Titusville, NJ, Raritan, NJ, or Horsham, PA. Approximately 25% travel is required (domestic and global).PMP Certification or Process Excellence/Six Sigma Certification is preferred. Experience working in a PMO is preferred. Advanced Desktop software (e.g MS Project), Finance and ERP/equivalent and CRM Platforms experience is preferred. Experience leading projects and programs in a highly complex, multi-application, multi-organization landscape is strongly preferred.
