The Global Brand Protection organization is responsible for integrating brand protection capabilities into the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies worldwide, our business partners, and our regulatory partners to deliver end-to-end protection that safeguards patients, consumers, customers and the integrity of our brands. The Global Brand Protection organization reports into the Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain (JJSC) Organization.

JJSC encompasses supply chain organizations across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, including Supply Chain, Quality & Compliance, Engineering/Real Estate/Facilities Management, and Environment Health, Safety & Sustainability. All functions that “plan, source, make and deliver” our products – are part of J&J Supply Chain. Approximately 128,000 people work for the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. Globally, the supply chain network across Johnson & Johnson includes 125 internal manufacturing facilities, 459 distribution centers and more than 550 external manufacturers that collectively manufacture and distribute products to customers, supporting total sales of $71.3 billion in 2013.The formation of the enterprise Global Brand Protection (GBP) team is one of the ways Johnson & Johnson is addressing the issue of counterfeiting and other forms of illicit trade. GBP is a business discipline which provides expertise to proactively combat these concerns with our business partners. The GBP team is part of Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain. Our purpose is to provide enterprise brand protection capability to ensure a safe and secure supply chain that safeguards patients, consumers, customers and the integrity of our brands.
J&J Products are often impacted by counterfeit, diversion and other fraud. The GBP program integrated in JJSC has been established for over 5 years and has a mission to proactively protect patients and our business from counterfeit, diversion and other illicit trade.
Critical to the successful execution of this mission, the Specialist, Global Brand Protection will lead and or supervise and or support all Investigations and Enforcement Actions in the ASPAC Region. The Specialist will report to the Director of Global Brand Protection, Asia Region and shall support him for other potential activities across segments of J&J as capacity permits and the GBP team evolves.
Key responsibilities (list is inclusive but not exhaustive) include, but are not limited to Global Brand Protection Incident Management. Involves protecting patients, products and our business by proactively leading / supporting cross functional/regional management incidents of counterfeit, illegal diversion and other issues that could impact J&J. Examples may include the management and resolution of a counterfeit, diversion or any other form of illicit trade issues in Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China).Specialist shall lead and or supervise and or support all Investigations and Enforcement Actions in the ASPAC Region and develop and manage investigative resources in the ASPAC Region. Provide oversight and guidance and or support on all enforcement actions pertaining to the said incidents be it civil, criminal or administrative (customs etc.,), including but not limited to engaging with enforcement authorities and presenting complaint on behalf of J&J. Organize and lead Incident Response Teams in the country / region affected and support a pan-Regional cross-functional Anti-counterfeiting Working Group (ACWG). Submit monthly scorecard to Global Brand Protection of financial impact of illicit trade by country as well as the projected revenue recovered from counter-measures.
The role will have a broad range of program / strategy development and execution responsibilities including regional incident management, market monitoring, internet monitoring, data analytics and support of commercial strategies to prevent and manage risk, along with legal and enforcement approaches. All with aim of ensuring patient, customer safety, Protect IP, Securing J&J Trust Mark, protecting company reputation and enhancing business revenue.
In addition, the position is responsible for development and maintenance of the program budget, collaboration with business partners to insure implementation of business plan tactics. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather intelligence re illicit trade, Communications development and execution of ongoing internal and external communications to protect stakeholders, create deterrence, awareness and drive compliance. Examples may include training programs targeting the Sales and Marketing organization, external communications to distributors, pharmacies regulatory authorities, customs etc., and other stakeholders. The role will also be responsible for leading communications internally to senior leaders and other stakeholders across J&J AP (excluding Greater China), as well as externally.
The Specialist will be required to interface with governmental agencies in the ASPAC Region to understand anti-counterfeiting laws and regulations and to influence regulators’ efforts to prevent or intercept illicit trade and focus on Developing the discipline of Investigative Analytics. The details and types of Investigations and other activities to be performed by the incumbent are provided in the Appendix below (again, the list is inclusive and not exhaustive)Appendix1. Investigations:
- Brand Protection investigations and enforcement actions for all kinds of incidents (Counterfeiting, Diversion, Intellectual property Rights Infringement and Tampered Products), including but not limited to complex and regular investigations relating to exposing the complete illicit supply chain operations. Includes both conducting the investigations personally or coordinating the same various service providers
- Engage and manage investigators, follow-up on leads, compilation of reports, analysis of information, developing actionable information for enforcement.
- Coordinate and Manage Periodic Enforcement Action(s) on trade, counterfeit manufacturer and printer.
- Developing a network of informants in the printing industry to keep a tab over printers supplying counterfeit labels and developing leads for actionable enforcement.
- Organize Market Surveys and Buy Programs.
- Conduct Theft and or employee behavior associated Investigations.
- Organize Background Checks
- Customs recordation of Intellectual Property, enforcement and training
- Litigation support

- Manage Due-diligence investigations( TPM’s, Distributors etc )

A bachelor’s degree. A degree in law is desired2. A minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification professional working experience in Litigation, Investigations, Brand Protection, Law Enforcement, Defense Services (may be relaxed in exceptional cases)3. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional business partnering and communications skills. The ability to multi-task with a strong bias for results and solutions is important. Other desirable skills include the ability to influence both senior leaders and line management without formal authority, be detail-oriented while maintaining a big-picture perspective and maintain flexibility in a dynamic environment. Experience across other functional areas preferred; particularly in the areas of Marketing, Sales, and Operations, but also appreciate Compliance, Finance and Legal backgrounds. International experience desirable. Prior Brand Protection experience preferred. Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or Consumer experience is preferred. Proven project management, written and oral communication skills essential. Ability to work in an unstructured, matrixed and fast paced environment across multiple functions and regions of varying cultures and priorities. This position requires approximately 30-40% travel.
