The Associate Director will be responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of the DAS aligned biomarker strategy for Psoriasis. This individual represents SP&B to the Psoriasis Disease Area Stronghold as a Core DAS member. S/he partners with DAS and Immunology leadership to establish and maintain disease area scientific strategies for discovery, development and diagnostics. This person establishes and maintains biomarker and translational plans for Psoriasis clinical studies. S/he partners with appropriate CDTs and matrix groups for design and execution of BM and TM plans. S/he partners strongly with internal Discovery and Network Pharmacology colleagues and accesses key external scientists to evolve novel and innovative treatment strategies, evolve disease understanding to identify new targets and enable informed decision making. This person will establish a strong external network and scientific relationships allowing access to top investigators working to evolve an improved understanding of psoriasis. S/he represents SP&B and Immunology TA in collaborations and consortia. This individual works effectively in a complex matrix organization to evolve a world class psoriasis portfolio; partners with team leads, internal operations groups and external study investigators to obtain biosamples, generate appropriate datasets, and interpret study results; ensure that all clinical and technical biomarker reports and contributions are delivered as needed.
This person will establish and maintain a robust science background in Psoriasis disease area and biomarkers and diagnostics including currency and fluency in relevant technology areas and biomarker solutions. S/he will drive timely sharing, publication and presentation of results as appropriate. The successful candidate will partner with SP&B VP, PsO DAS leaders and scientific colleagues to design, develop and review biomarker strategies and data across disease areas ensuring cross-team best practices and shared learnings. This individual will partner with DAS as a strategic driver of novel disease treatment strategies and drive scientific collaboration within SP&B to enable target identification and validation. S/he will represent SP&B and the Immunology TA in external alliances as needed. S/he will establish and manage scientific collaborations to enable state of the art network pharmacology and biomarker approaches. This person will manage a team of motivated scientists including PhD level investigators to evolve and oversee experimental designs, data analysis and interpretation. S/he is responsible for communicating results internally and reporting data from biomarker experiments to regulatory agencies in submissions or responses to questions. This individual will maintain domain expertise and KOL network with regard to biomarker and disease science, computational methods, biosample banking, and informed consents and regulations for human studies, systems pharmacology approaches and diagnostic development. This person will have an understanding of commercial aspects of diagnostics and impact on pharmaceutical development and commercialization.
QualificationsA minimum of a Ph.
D. or M.D. in appropriate biologic science is required. The successful candidate must possess 6-10 years of relevant professional experience with specialization in psoriasis or related disease area. A strong immunology background is preferred. A strong understanding of biomarkers and clinical diagnostics is preferred. Prior management or supervisory experience planning and implementing development activities for direct reports required. Experience with project management tools, high content data generation and computational analysis is preferred. Robust communication including public presentation skills and a strong history of peer reviewed publication is required.
