Job Requirements 

We are looking for two chefs to join our Catering team at the John Lewis Partnership.  

This is a demanding role within the Catering team which will be providing food to Partners. The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills. 

It can be physically demanding with some manual handling and would suit someone who is highly motivated and able to take initiative when working on their own.

We value work-life balance,  This role would suit someone who prefers set hours and no weekend working.

Key Responsibilities Including but not limited to 

The responsibility will range from working in a small to large kitchen, preparing hot and cold foods and pastry items ensuring a clean and tidy working environment.

Operating, cleaning and maintaining equipment within the department is essential as well as having an excellent knowledge of the John Lewis food safety standards.

Apply the John Lewis food safety policies and procedures which include all legislation applicable to the Catering operation

Ability to oversee the opening, closing and daily running of the operation

Prepare, serve and present food to a high standard

Essential skills you’ll need 

 

· 
Operational experience as a Chef in PDRs, canteens or hospitality

· 
Good Basic Education -

· 
Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. - Level 2

· 
Recognised Food Production Certificate. City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent

Desirable skills 

· 
Working towards Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 3

· 
Knowledge of pastry or bakery
