Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer in the John Deere Order Management (OM) program, you will get the rare opportunity to work on a large-scale global web application in a Fortune 500 company that is regularly ranked among the best companies to work for in the country. This particular position will be on the OM Build & Price team which will be among the first in the company to adopt the new Global IT Agile Operating Model. This means that the opportunities afforded this position go well beyond the traditional design, development, testing, and delivering of new features but also now includes exposure to automated test frameworks, CI/CD, code scanning, pairing, and fully peer-reviewed code. The person filling this position will be among the most senior technical members of the team so there will be the added responsibility of setting the architectural direction of the team and collaborating with the senior engineers from the other OM teams to establish the architectural foundation of the entire program. Major duties include:

·  Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems
·  Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
·  Analyze assignments and determine software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives, executing necessary documentation as needed
·  Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
·  Follow industry-standard Agile software design methodology for development and documentation
·  Mentor junior software engineers within the team and across multiple products
·  Lead engineering practices alongside engineering manage

What Skills You Need

·  Extensive experience in the design, development, testing and integration of highly complex software solutions
·  Thorough understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints
·  5 or more years of experience on major software programs
·  5 or more years of experience with TDD and acceptance test-driven development utilizing J-Unit, Cucumber, Worksoft Certify, ABAP Unit, SAP ATC, Cucumber, Cypress, Puppeteer Etc.
·  2 or more years of experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration (e.g. CitHug) and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Active Control etc.)
·  5 or more years of experience with Java web development with Spring and RESTful APIs or ABAP development with Rest/SOAP based services
·  5 or more years of varied DB experience (e.g. DBS, SQL Server, MongoDB, Hibernate, NoSQL, MySql, DB2, SAP Hana)
·  1 or more years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
·  1 or more years of experience with code scanning tools including SONARQube, Veracode, and BlackDuck HUB

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

·  Deep experience with software test automation (TDD and Unit Testing Frameworks: Junit, Mockito)
·  Experience configuring and implementing system execution/quality monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Grafana, Graylog, SAP Focused Run, SonarQube, nGeniusONE etc.
·  2 or more years of experience implementing major software programs leveraging change management
·  Working understanding of design patterns and loosely coupled architectures
·  Experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure
·  1 or more years of experience with Swagger.io

Education (or equivalent work experience)

·  Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
