Shop Mechanic

Job Summary

JLL is seeking a Shop Mechanic to join our team! The incumbent is required to maintain building, facilities and shop equipment and systems for continuous operations for our client, utilizing automation controls, alarm systems and local controls.   

Primary Duties:

·  Operates, inspects, and maintains all mechanical, electrical and tool & die systems in assigned facilities to obtain most efficient operating results and life expectancy.
·  Performs building and facilities maintenance activities across the site.
·  Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
·  Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
·  Safe operation of tools and shop equipment, and safe execution of work in the field.
·  Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
·  Assures that site equipment is being maintained in an energy efficient, safe manner and that down time is reduced to a minimum by anticipation of necessary repairs keeping records of past operating experiences.
·  Maintains good facility relations through prompt and courteous response to facility requests within the guidelines set forth by JLL and Client.
·  Responsible for assisting the building engineering team with protecting and improving the value of the client’s assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function.
·  Monitor the quality of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
·  Work closely with contractors.  Assist in providing access to machinery rooms, electric closets and other restricted areas, as directed.
·  Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and/or as directed.
·  Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner.
·  Document problems encountered and communicate these through electronic work order systems, electronic mail and voice systems.
·  Operates systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures.
·  Recommends measures to improve building and facilities conditions and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, shop, or work crew.
·  Successfully complete training and demonstrate an ability to perform equipment monitoring and operational checks on utility equipment.
·  Complete site GMP requirements in relation to training and site practices.
·  Maintain GMP training qualifications to ensure site compliancy standards.
·  Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
·  Maintains all codes, laws and regulations through the JLL compliance program. Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
·  Interact will with others in a team environment including Maintenance, Engineering team members as well as other internal / external customers.
·  Team player with the desire to foster teamwork to help create a positive working environment.
·  Be able to work independently and follow escalation policy if needed. 
·  Actively participates in, technical and safety training programs.
·  Performs additional duties as directed.

·  Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instruments:

·  Power Supply
·  End Mill
·  Lathe
·  Drill Press
·  Hydraulic Brake and Shear
·  Band Saws (vertical and Horizontal)
·  Power Grinder and sanders
·  Rollers, Electro polishing
·  Welding (Arc, MIG, Oxy/acetylene, TIG)
·  Must be able to read and understand mechanical blue prints and electrical schematics.

Knowledge and Skills

·  Have knowledge of the basic PC skills along with common applications associated with interoffice communication.
·  Experience in oral and written communications in a concise and timely manner. 

Work Environment

·  Work with hazardous materials and chemicals.
·  Wear air purifying respirator and wear necessary hearing protection.
·  Work alternative shifts that could include graveyard shifts, weekends, holidays.
·  Work overtime when necessary and work varying shifts, including on-call program.
·  Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights to perform job functions as needed.
·  Crawl, kneel and stoop and work in small spaces.
·  Physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate a motor vehicle.

Education / Experience

·  Minimum of a high school diploma and trade school or apprentice program.
·  4+ years of experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in technical aspects of machinery, plumbing, electrical, equipment repair and maintenance.
·  Electrical and/or Mechanical licenses preferred.
·  Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
·  Previous GMP environment experience is preferred.
·  Have working knowledge of CMMS systems is preferred.
·  Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
