Job description



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties as assigned.

·         Performs technical and general maintenance work on a variety of facilities and building equipment, systems, structures, and hardware, including air handlers, domestic water, chilled water, hot water, steam, humidification, building exhaust, compressed air, controls, lighting, electrical, etc.  

·         Completes preventive maintenance (PMs) as assigned including performing general maintenance and repairs when on weekend coverage or special circumstances. 

·         Assists senior mechanics with more complex tasks or major repairs/modifications.

·         Availability to work overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after hours (early morning or late night), weekends and holidays as required.

·         Learn and demonstrate appropriate alarm responses to common PLC initiated alarms.

·         Exposed to commercial mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

Education & Experience

·         High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). 

         

Skills

·         Knowledge and experience with hand tools and test equipment.

·         Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the following facilities systems is preferred in addition to accomplishing plumbing tasks listed above. Chilled water, compressed air, steam, domestic hot and cold water and equipment including HVAC, pumps, piping, valves, pneumatics, controls, motors, electrical up to 600 volts / 3 phase, heat exchangers, and air compressors, or possess skill in a trade, carpentry, hvac, electrical.

·         Ability to read and interpret basic layout drawings, system drawings and manufacturers’ equipment specifications. 

·         Knowledge of standard and maintenance practices.

Language Skills

·        Ability to write simple correspondence.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

·         Attend all electrical safety courses offered and scheduled by management

·         Attend all scheduled safety training offered and scheduled by management

·         The noise level in the work environment can be loud and ear protection may be required.
