Role Purpose
We are currently recruiting a GIS intern to join our EMEA research team based in London West End. The position would be initially for two months with possibilities of further extension for an additional month. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong GIS and analytical skills, and interest in developing a career within the real estate sector. We are open to receive applications from students currently starting their 3rd year undergraduate, masters and recent graduates.
The candidate would be part of our research team. This role would be a support function under the direction of more experienced location analysts and is aimed to be combined with studies offering flexible working hours. The GIS intern will be providing support preparing standard outputs using mostly the ArcGIS suite, as well as ad-hoc GIS requests for the different teams within the company. The intern will also have a key role in data collection and data management and will be assisting in the development of our GIS platform.
What this job involves
· Support locational advisory functions for all GIS resources within UK and EMEA Research.
· Support research outputs and client work where GIS capabilities are required.
· Assist working on data collection, preparation of case studies and GIS documentation.
Sound like you? To apply you need to be / have:
· Graduate, masters, or 3rd year student of any GIS related discipline.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
· Experience using ArcGIS Desktop and extensions such as Network Analyst and Spatial Analyst.
· Knowledge of SQL for data manipulation.
· Excellent analytical skills applied to GIS and spatial analysis.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work on own initiative.
· Technically competent with GIS software, data management, manipulation and analysis.
· Ability to select and apply a wide range of GIS methodologies for spatial modelling, monitoring and problem solving.
· Team player and adaptable.
· Interest in the real estate sector.
· Interest in programming using e.g. JavaScript, python.
· Interest in open source GIS and data.
· Awareness of the latest online mapping and visualisation tools.
