Fire/Life/Safety Maintenance Technician
Job Responsibilities
Maintenance
· Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical and fire life safety systems equipment, and other components.
· Tests, inspects, maintains and repairs the fire alarm, fire suppression and support systems located in assigned facilities.
· Ensures fire alarm and fire suppression systems meet standards
· Perform assigned facility and fire life safety systems inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
· General maintenance – hang signs, install extinguishers, general repairs, painting, and general mechanical
· Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment.
· Other tasks as assigned
Safety
· Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
· Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
· Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled
· Practice Defensive Driving at all times
· Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Driving
· Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
Administrative
· Update work order status in real time
· Utilize CMMS systems for all work performed.
· Support Fire Life Safety Inspections
· Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner
· Attend work and safety meetings as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education/training
· High school diploma or GED, technical degree or certification
· Mechanic certification preferred, but not required
· NFPA certification preferred, but not required
Years of relevant experience
· Have a minimum of 1- 3 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical, and fire life safety systems.
Other abilities
· Strong Customer Service skills
· Strong Interpersonal skills
Physical work requirements and work conditions
· Lifting up to 50 lbs.
· Working from heights.
· Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
· Driving on site
· Climbing a ladder, carrying a tool bag
