Junior NPD Technologist

Job description

As the Junior NPD Technologist, reporting to the Development Technologist, the role will provide support to enable the delivery of development projects whilst driving continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be qualified in Food Technology/Food Science at degree or HND level, with some experience within a technologist role, holding a real passion for food.

Key responsibilities:

• Progressing projects through the NPD system from brief to launch.
• Organise and dispatch NPD samples with the associated paperwork.
• Complete shelf life assessment of new products.
• Carry out benchmarking sessions and analysis of results.
• Carry out NPD costings ensuring they meet the brief target.
• Participate in the completion of QAS standards for NPD products.
• Support production trials and 1st production runs.
• Work with the commercial functions to ensure product briefs are fully understood and NPD is fit for purpose.

Person specification:

• Educated to Degree or HND level in Food Science / Food technology or related subject
• Relevant experience of working within either retail, manufacturing, wholesale, foodservice channels.
• Good interpersonal skills, team player, can develop and maintain relationships throughout the business.
• Shows good problem solving skills - can think outside the box whilst under pressure.
• Good numeracy & literacy skills.
• Self-motivated, tenacious, able to manage own work load and flexible to changing business needs.
• Proficient IT skills in all applications.
• Meticulous attention to detail with good organisational skills.
