Junior Financial Controller
Internship London (Greater London) Accounting / Management control
Job description
You’ll join the company as it evolves from ‘start up’ phase to ‘scale up’ phase and work with the COO on a broad range of tasks and projects required to develop and scale the Finance and Operations functions.
These will include:
Invoice tracking and payment
• Ensure all costs are appropriately tracked and allocated
• Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
• Review, oversee payment of and file monthly expense reports
• Review supplier payment terms
• Ensure robust procedures and controls are upheld throughout all above process.
Accounting
• Design and implement suitable financial controls as the business grows
• Act as primary point person for external accountant in preparation of statutory accounts
• Work with external accountant to prepare annual accounts and corporation tax reports
• Work with third party to prepare annual Research & Development tax claim, and other grants and claims the company is eligible to.
Business and strategy
• Prepare monthly management accounts
• Work with management on forecasting and budgeting
• Calculate and report on monthly variance to budget
• Reconcile management accounts to statutory accounts
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports for internal use, monthly meetings, monthly investor updates, board meetings, fundraisings
• Contribute to commercial evaluation of new business opportunities (ROI calculation)

Location
• Mainly London with occasional travels to Paris
• All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and France
Desired profile
• Native French, fluent in English. Living in London
• Accounting qualifications (not compulsory but a plus if you have them)
• Minimum a previous internship at the Big 4 audit firms or reputable finance firm
• Ability to take responsibility for prioritising and monitoring varied work-steams
• Exceptional attention to detail and leaning toward strong process
• Excellent excel skills, comfortable with financial modelling and experience with cloud accounting systems. SQL is a plus
